By Anonymous D.July 19, 2020backyard concrete$15,500Response from Golden State Concrete Inc July 20, 2020Thank you for your constructive feedback this will help my company to grow. I am also very sorry you feel this way. Yes, you spent thousands of dollars but concrete is expensive. 1. You mentioned I neglected your project because I was not there for 8 hours, just so you know the contractor normally can not be present for 8 hours in one project. Out of the two weeks of your project, two times I did not make it. Again, I am very sorry you felt like I neglected you and I can assure you that was never my intention. 2. How can you be happy or satisfied with your project if you did not let me finish the job (pressure washer and seal). 3. You mentioned small holes on the stamped concrete, yes that is true but these are very tiny holes size 1/16 inches and that was about four of them in a square footage of 1400 approximately and there was one that was a little bigger (no more than 1/4 and I gave you the option to patch it. 4.Cracks between the joints are normal (joints are meant to do that so that the cracking goes in the joints) I had already explained that to you. 5. I left the release two days because this is the process I have always done with all my stamped projects, the purpose of the release is to give the stamped concrete a contrast to show the the texture of the stamped. Do not confuse my quality of work with with your personal taste. 6. About the project price, the estimate ended lower because you kept wanting to bargain so actually the price kept going down not up. 7. About the AC unit I mentioned to you I would charge you around $600 for an AC sub-contractor to move it and to put it back after the pour but as we were doing the forming, I noticed the AC Unit lines were lose enough for me to lift it and pour concrete, which is what I did without compromising anything. By the way, this was not an additional cost to your estimate. 8. After two days, I was present to pressure wash the stamped concrete to get rid of the release but you were not happy with how it looked. You wanted me to take off the entire release which is not possible. I ended up giving two options since you ended up not liking it. One was to stain the concrete with one color to take off the contrast of the release you did not like. Second, was to seal it so that you can look at the final product. One Final word, it is unfortunate that you forced me (made me write and signed a contract stating not to show the project pictures) to my business social media and website which is what I do with all my projects. If I did not do that, you said you would not pay me the $1,500 out of the $5,500. Also Mr. Venkat D, I tried to work with you and I also mentioned to you to call the Contractors State License Board so they can check my work, but you decided not to take that route. Even though you decided to give me a very low review, this will not affect my company's reputation but will help me learn to deal with clients like you in the future. Thank you for your business

It was very bad experience. After shelling thousands of dollars in the backyard concrete job, it is very hard to think about mistakes that turns into big blunders you cannot correct. Leo is professional enough, but his work is not. He may be busy with lot of other projects around and neglected mine. I feel absolute waste when I look at the final product.
Work: Holes of about a quarter show up within a week. Within two weeks, cracks are formed between the concrete lines for every line that they drew. They don't even know how to do “stamped concrete”. They left the broom powder on the concrete for 2 days that leaves the concrete to lose it's original color in it. He compromised quality of the concrete. He left the project to his un-professional subordinates. He possibly sub-contracts to others, since he is having lot of jobs around.
Price: He initially says one price, when final estimate done, it will be higher than the initial price. If client does not respond he approaches that he has a gap and want to do for less and he will come up with near to initial estimates to lure/trap. After the agreement done, he brings options (do you want that or this, if you want that it costs more). One example of how his pricing works: He initially said there will be high cost ($800!!!) to lift the "A/C" to pour concrete saying that he needs to hire a person to do it. But, when he come up with estimate, he added it free, without even bargaining for it. When actually has to lift the A/C, no special person came.
One final word: He can’t even trust his product. He is afraid of doing pressure wash the concrete, because he thinks the concrete falls apart due to the pressure.
