I was nice to the man, but informed him that we'd already had some bids and made some other arrangements.

Ben was great! Went above and beyond expectations, and did not alter the price. Completed multiple tasks in one day. Thanks, Ben!

I hired this contractor, Ben Goulet, for two projects, one in June 2017 and one in Aug 2017.
First project: This project involves installation of a ceiling fan, an outlet, a ventilator, and several lighting fixtures. The work is fine.
Second project: I ask Ben Goulet to install a short power line and an outlet to plug our fountain pump. This time I have lots of problems with this guy. Schedule: He said he would come Thursday, but actually came Friday. He did some work, then left, saying he would come the following Tue to finish the work. He disappeared and only came back the following Friday. Work quality: Horrible. I got no outlet, no plug, not even a switch. He only installed a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) and hardwired the pump to the power source. When I asked him how to turn off the fountain if there is no switch, no plug, he wanted me to push the tiny button on the GFI. Ha ha ha... Anyone who has some basic electrical knowledge knows that the GFI is a protective device which is NOT supposed to be used as a switch. The GFI is certainly NOT an outlet. Either this guy is incompetent or he purposefully ignores the basic to reduce his workload and get extra money.
It turned out that this guy loses his temper very easily. One minute before he appeared to be a polite person, the next minute he changed into an aggressive and intimidating person. He loudly and fiercely argued with me. Before he started his work, I have clearly explained to him, in person and in text messages, what I need. I still keep the text messages I exchanged with him where I said I need an outlet to plug the fountain pump. He said it is not what was agreed on. He said I must pay him $200 more to install the outlet, on top of $400 I already pay him. At this point I let him go. I understand that I should end my dealing with this person right away. Then I hired a different contractor who installed a proper outlet plus a timer for the fountain, at a fraction of the cost that this guy Ben demanded.
Also, by asking around, I discover that this Goulet contractor cost of service is far more expensive than some contractors. Ben Goulet earlier quoted me a timer for $50. I can buy an outdoor heavy duty timer at Walmart for $11.99. It is a plug-in device so no installation is required. This contractor charges are outrageous. I should have requested more quotes from other contractors instead of believing Home Advisor to hire him. The Goulet Electric Inc. is actually a tiny business where Ben Goulet is the person who does most of the work. He typically has one assistant who he constantly changes. He came to our house with 3 different assistants. Other contractors I know have more stable employees. No wonder he cannot provide a proper work schedule to customers. One should also be aware of his hidden character. He is willing to cheat customers to get a few more dollars. If your project is not as profitable for him as he expects, he will freak out. This contractor is not trustworthy for hire.
