Gps Gils Property Services

Have to say that I hate to have to write this. I met Gil and chose GPS to do my roof based on my feeling that he really cared about his work (he was the only person who climbed up in my attic with me to see the damage) and answered my questions, leaving me satisfied that he knew what he was doing. His quote was reasonable/in line with others.

In case there were issues, I stayed home/in the area while his crew did my roof, giving both Gil and his foreman my phone number if they needed anything during the day.
While he was there, Gil told me that he underestimated the amount of wood needed. I asked what it would cost me, and he said, don’t worry, a couple of hundred dollars extra. I said ok, knowing that this was not unusual (this was not my first roof replacement).
When his crew finished, he came in to settle up with me and told me that the job would cost over $1200 above our agreed upon price. He claimed a number of issues had come up. When I asked why he did not tell me about them during the day, he said nothing.
Additionally, after he left, my wife noticed that his crew had damaged a row of shingles on one side of the house. This was really visible (and really sloppy work. Sorry that this site won't let me upload pictures, but trust me here. This is not the first roofer that I have worked with). The fact that he did not even mention this to me, in addition to the cost overruns, was angering, but I decided to see what he would say when I contacted him.
When I pointed out these two problems (a massive addition to my bill and the damage to my house), the office manager apologized, told me how much customer satisfaction meant to GPS, and told me that Gil would call me to work things out. I waited a month, regularly calling and getting the same answer from the office manager. He never got in touch.
Finally, I told the office manager that this was ridiculous. She suggested that I call Gil. When I told her that I didn’t think that was my job, she then told me that Gil did not think that he needed to do anything, either about the money or to repair the damage done to my wall.

GPS claims that it is all about customer service and referrals, but clearly they just don’t care to do good work and to stand behind their commitments.

So, I am paying the balance. repairing the damage to my home, and leaving this review. I am not the sort of person to leave bad reviews, and I am the first to refer people I have worked with to my friends (they depend on this, as I know good work and that (I thought) I was a good judge of people.

That said, I would recommend that you avoid GPS.
