Warning. Started out nine months ago. To date my pool remains green and unfinished. Very difficult to get commitments to work. MANY MANY promises to complete but very very poor follow-through. Sad to say, I had to employ an attorney today. I have given Steve Edwards more than ample opportunity to complete.

We have a saltwater pool and it needed resurfacing. I went to Angie to find a pool contractor because they are supposed to be reputable. We got an estimate from 2 pool resurfacing contractors and decided to go with Great Pool Guys. Started out as we can start in a week and get this done in 1 weeks. Steve (owner), "Great Pool Guys will be there tomorrow" showed up 1 week later (several times). We definitely had to be the squeaky wheel and call or text him frequently. After work was finished, we took in a water sample prior to putting in salt and chemicals to find out where we stood. Calcium was 510 very high. Pool store guy at Leslie’s asked if we put any calcium in and we had not. City water I am told has around 80ppm Calcium? Pool is approx. 13,000 gal pool. So we spoke to Great Pool Guys and asked what he thinks happened, we asked what the pool store guys asked us, if maybe the calcium was leaching out of the plaster they used, did they add too much Calcium to Plaster, etc...
Great Guys promised to come and drain 1/2 pool and refill that weekend. No Show. By Tuesday at 8:00 pm they had not shown so WE rented a pump and drained the pool out selves. His guys show up at 8:30pm to drain pool and we had already done. Steve said he will pay for additional water on our bill and throw in the pool light that also needed fixing. He was a no show, then texted and said he will personally come and fix it himself. Then no he is not going to fix it it can't be fixed. No on fixing the light. Reimbursement of water bill to refill pool not materialized yet. To boot turned on the Hot Tub and 3 of the flush mount jets they “replaced” shot out of the holes. Truly amazing. I would not recommend this company. -

They are awful, do not hire them. They go by "Great Pool Guys" and "The Good Pool Guys." They are neither great nor good. Roger and Steve will take your money and stop talking to you. And if they do start work, it will be no better than a 4 yr could do. I hired them to demo my hot tub, build a tanning ledge, re-tile, and replaster my pool. The tile is completely uneven, broken in places, missing in places, new skimmers are corroded from the incompetence of removing the old rusted metal, the brick and mortar work is uneven, not straight, and gapping. The worker they used to come to my house also sent me harassing text messages that made me uncomfortable. When Steve visited and agreed the work was awful and that he would "personally" see to fixing it, I was met with excuse after excuse on why he couldn't have someone out. I've hired an attorney, which they are also ignoring, and I am in the process of suing them. I can stress enough not to use them. There are A LOT of pool companies out there, go with anyone else. I am able to provide pictures of the awful work they did. Roger and Steve will mess up your pool. Don't use them.

WORST CONTRACTOR EXPERIENCE IN MY 53 YEARS OF LIFE AND 23 YEARS OF HOMEOWNERSHIP!!!! Do NOT use the “Great” Pool Guys! They have absolutely no integrity, they lie, they make up sorry excuses, and even leave their trash around. I wrote a check to begin my job on 1/10/22, and the job is still not done. I should have known when I asked them to hold my check for 1 day, and they cashed it anyway causing the check to bounce. That’s how it began.
The work that has been done is very sub-par. There are holes all the way around the pool between the pool and decking. The filter is not completed at all; it doesn’t even have grout around it. There are water leaks around the pool that is causing discoloration. The grout is already coming off revealing the dark gray underneath the white. I asked for white Pebble Tech and they gave me blue and told me it was white – I can see colors. There is a huge chunk of concrete on the bench in my pool; it looks like a big rock but can’t be moved.
During the process, they would say they are coming to work on my pool and not show up. This happened many, many times. When the workers did show up, they worked for 2 hours, took a lunch break and worked for another hour or 2 at best. When I reached out to see what I could expect, I was met with the same tired and lame excuses. When they showed up, it was always very late.
As a single woman, it’s difficult not to take this type of treatment personally and to not feel targeted due to my gender. I tried to avoid this line of thinking; however, I have spoken with another single woman who received the same terrible treatment from this company.
