My mother entered into a contract to remodel the small kitchen. On August 1st the contractor gutted the kitchen. He then installed a new floor. The contract was for a "pergo floor to match the flooring in the den", which is a 5 inch Mannington engineered hardwood floor. He installed a quickstep laminate floor with 3 strip planks, which is not even close to the quality of what he should have installed. We had even given him the extra box of flooring and told him where it was purchased so that he could match the flooring. While he was installing the flooring he damaged brand new molding that was installed in the living room over the summer. This was not acceptable! We had the correct flooring installed by another company at my mothers expense (almost $3,000). The cabinets then arrived on August 22nd. Once he installed the cabinets, he had to return because he did not install the cabinets level and had to make many adjustments. He even installed the wrong sink cabinet. The door style does not match the other cabinets. This is not a large kitchen, there is only 10 cabinets. We have been working with the company where the cabinets were purchased to get the correct door for the cabinets. In October he would not answer his phone or return phone calls. We then had to send a certified letter at the end of October to try and get the kitchen completed, he never picked up the letter. My mother, who lives alone has been without a working kitchen for almost 4 months. She still does not have the counter tops installed, a working sink, dishwasher or microwave hooked up. We were not able to have thanksgiving dinner at her house like we always do every year. We just want to have this completed so that she can cook a hot meal in her house and not have to go out for dinner or rely on friends for a hot meal. We would never work with this contractor again.
