    We ordered a floating dock and a gangway from H5 which was delivered to us in South Carolina. They were pleasant and good to deal with along the way although they did not give us updates on the construction and called one morning to say it was being delivered in 3 hours. We then had to scramble to get to the boat landing to pick it up.
    After paying the final payment, we noticed that the floating dock decking was flexing almost ½” when it was stepped on. After closer inspection, we determined that decking was installed on aluminum joists that had been spaced 24” on center which does not meet the building code, and also is not what they told us they would do.
    Furthermore, we contacted SureStep (the decking material) and they confirmed that this spacing also invalidates the warranty.
    Text and phone conversations were held between us and H5 and they admitted it was in error and agreed to send materials. H5 refused to come out and fix the problem and told us to get our own contractor to fix it. They stated that if the cost was “reasonable”, they would pay. However, the owner Matt Hon’s expectation and methodology for fixing the issue and installing the joists was completely unreasonable. We contacted 2 contractors to fix it and they told us it would take 2-3 days to fix it.
    Since we told H5 this, they have been completely unresponsive to emails, texts and even certified letters. We have no options but to pursue this legally.
    This is a contractor with no ethics or accountability for poor workmanship.
