In July 2020, I purchased a home from Ben Hagaman that he had built and rented out since 2018. The home was listed as having "engineered hardwood throughout". I am unfamiliar with flooring types, so I took their word on it. Engineered hardwood and hardwood were mentioned at least 3 times in the MLS listing.
We found out a couple weeks after moving in that the flooring type was not hardwood at all, and only laminate planks. We found this because we reached out to a hardwood flooring company to see if there was anything we can do about some damage to the flooring that we knowingly accepted, with intent of having it repaired by a hardwood professional. Our issue is not with the damage to the floor, but with the fact that the flooring type is not what was advertised for this home.
I have contacted Ben Hagaman and the listing agent for the home multiple times and have basically been blown off. I would love to come to a resolution on this, as this is clearly a case of misrepresentation. As the builder, he had no excuse for misrepresenting the flooring type as something of higher value that it actually is.
