Halo Restoration is the best of the best. I highly recommend this company. I had a a shower overflow and fill the other bathroom and master bedroom. My plumber gave me another company's telephone number and told me to call immediately. I was in a panic and didn't do my research. The Long Beach company came out and first thing was to tell me that don't worry everything we do is covered by your insurance. They pulled out my carpet and threw it away. They threw toiletries and clothing of mine into plastic bags and assured me that State Farm would pay for everything. They tore holes in my walls. I could go on. I found out that my loss was not covered by insurance right before they started to pull out the toilets. I have yet to see my belongings. And, they will not return my phone calls. On the other hand, Mike came out from Halo Restoration in the evening. They have the most up to date equipment. They take base boards out instead of making holes in your walls. Their dryers are fed into holes that will be covered when the baseboards after drying. This company is honest and fair! Again, I would highly recommend this company!… Thank you Mike Wakamaya!. You're the best.

Frankly, I have been meaning to review Halo Restoration for quite some time, but, each time that I start to do so, I conclude that nobody would EVER believe the odyssey that our family’s intertwinement with them has become. It is completely unbelievable, but is 100% true, and I am enclosing my personal email for those of you reading this who do not believe the story ([email protected]).
The shortest version is this: Our kitchen was flooded by the negligence of our plumbing service, and this was compounded by this firm’s refusal to deal with the damages. Weeks after the flood, with the lower cabinets now covered with green and black fuzzy rot, we could not find a reliable contractor that would touch our job. The kitchen stunk – as in wet, rotting wood -- and so did each and every “contractor” we spoke with!
These “contractors” (and I use this term only because tender eyes might see this review!), missed appointments, failed to return calls, and were the most Unprofessional people you never want to meet or deal with!
When we finally found Mike Wakamiya, of HALO Restoration, we were already burned out and bitter, angry, and completely frustrated. Honestly, I was not too nice when we first spoke and expected Mike to refuse to deal with us, but Mike saw through the frustration my wife and I were suffering and came out the very next day to have a look.
Mike accepted the job, and “the job” took slightly OVER ONE FULL YEAR, during which time Mike did repeated battle with the plumbing firm’s insurance carrier, their insurance adjusters, and any- and everyone else that stood in the way of progress, including several manufacturer’s and other material providers.
And when I say “battle” it really was a battle each and every step of the way, with the insurance estimators “low-balling” each and every step toward progress, and Mike battling them to get us the maximum so we could afford to rebuild.
One would think that material providers would be on the side of the homeowners, or at least the contractor, but this was certainly NOT the case with some that we had contact with. In fact, one major kitchen cabinet builder, who is a major “player” in the Los Angeles/Orange County area tried to cheat us so badly on both the quality of the kitchen cabinets they proposed – as well as the price thereof – that they offered Mike a (rather large) cash bribe to get us to go with their product and bid: Mike not only having none of it, but telling us, and telling them in clear terms just where to go.
In the end, with Mike’s constant hand-holding, guidance and support, our kitchen clean-up, rebuild and re-equipping are eye-popping; well and truly better and higher quality than we started out with BEFORE the flood, and absolutely more than we deserved to have installed.
If you want a true professional, knowledgeable, friendly, supportive, and who will stick with you through ANYTHING, Mike Wakamiya of HALO Restoration is him.
Mike began as our last resort in finding someone who could and would rescue us from disaster, and ended up a close family friend.
His expertise, work ethic, and the quality of his labor are the finest you will possibly find. He puts his reputation into each and every job he takes on.
Respectfully,
David and Michelle Schulberg
