Great team of talented hard workers. Fair prices and beautiful work. The tuckpointing they did on our 47-year old foundation was impressive.

We very much regret using Hamblin Masonry for the stonework on our house. Some of the work that was done was fine, but other parts were done very badly. Working with James was extremely difficult as he was defensive, argumentative and erratic and lacked effective communication and listening skills.

After the work, James demanded payment beyond what he originally quoted, as he had miscalculated the cost of the job, and was aggressive about trying to get it. We assured him we would pay him, but he continued to pressure us and text us asking where the money was. Ten days after job completion, while we were waiting on funds from the bank through our construction loan, he threatened to put a “lean” (his misspelling, not mine) on our house.

In the process of dealing with the poor work, we discovered he was not licensed by the state, as is required by all contractors doing work above a certain cost threshold. While that is unethical, it is also illegal.

In hindsight, we wish we had researched more thoroughly prior to hiring him and hope that others are able to avoid the same mistake. Hamblin Masonry engages in unethical business practices, pressure tactics for payment, and lacks quality in their work. We would advise anyone not to use them.
