I would NEVER build with Hamilton Taylor again! We had structural issues that took over two years to be dealt with and were never actually dealt with by Hamilton Taylor but another contractor. We started addressing the issues with the project manager and worked our way to the top, Steve Boynton. Every step of the way they "assured"us that they would "take care of us". Not true! Eventually they stopped returning calls and we had to consult with an attorney. I would NOT recommend Hamilton Taylor to anyone!

Hi,
Where to begin. First we met with Chris Skorseth and toured some home he built. We liked what we saw and chose a home to have him build. This is where the fun begins. Because our lot was away from Chris's other homes under construction we were the last to attended. It took 3 weeks to clear our lot. It 5 months to build the house, 2 behind schedule. Home has many issues. All the interior doors do not close or open properly. The window above out front door is not centered. We have our laundry room door hanging by 2 hinges as the other hinge is not anchored, which Chris has been aware of for months. Our deck was not built to speck using the lumber in the construction drawings. Its poor at best and the ledger bolts are loose, sticking out or stripped. Again Chris has know about this for awhile. The front door stoop is in bad shape and looks like its been there for 20 years. Chris and his concrete guy said not there faults has we did not have gutters. We were never told that the gutters were not included. The front door does not open or close properly. Cant even lock it. Again Chris is aware of our issues and does nothing to repair them. So where to now. Well if things are not addressed shortly and correctly I believe Hamilton Taylor is responsible and will be getting a letter from out attorney. Chris is a nice guy but organization skills, project management and selection of carpenters is poor at best. -

If I could rate them and give less than one star I would. The Hamilton Taylor experience was absolutely awful. Chris Skorseth handled our build and it was significantly behind schedule. Chris was awful at returning phone calls and the home often sat for extended periods of time without any work being done. We even caught Chris in outright lies, when he said he did something and follow-up proved it to be the contrary. In further investigating Hamilton Taylor Homes, it appears that virtually no local contractors want to be associated with them in any way. If you are considering Hamilton Taylor, at least with Chris Skorseth as project manager, I suggest you think again.

I had my new home built by Chris Skorseth of Hamilton Taylor Homes and it turned out fantastic! They make the process very easy with their no construction loan process. The work is quality and fast! Thank you Hamilton Taylor!

We built with Chris and Hamilton Taylor in 2011. We had a fantastic experience and have referred many friends. Our home was actually finished ahead of schedule. Chris still keeps in touch 2 years later, and I wouldn't hesitate to build with them again.

We dealt with Chris Skorseth and he made the building experience a pleasurable one. He was very informative and offered his opinion but made sure he was open to what we were looking for. Our home was completed in the time he said it would be and within our specified budget. Definitely recommend Chris to anybody.

I had my current home built by Hamilton Taylor and moved on October of 2011. The contractor I worked with was way above average in terms of both knowledge and customer service/care. He and I worked together to meet the October 1st move-in goal. I questioned this date many times during the process, but he always assured me I would be in my house October 1st.....and he was right.
I've had very few problems since, and they've all been met quickly and professionally by my contractor, who is always available by cell, and quick to respond. I would recommend him, and Hamilton Taylor to anyone.

My wife and I recently had a home built by Hamilton Taylor and had a wonderful experience. They were very easy to work with and their attention to detail was outstanding. The home we built has a ton of custom features that Hamilton Taylor helped us bring to life that really sets this house apart from others. We have built in the past with and had good results but with Hamilton Taylors process it went extremely smooth and was less stressful and time consuming for us then it had been building are last home.

If you are considering Hamilton Taylor Homes in the Duluth, MN area and / or are represented by Chris Skorseth of Edina Realty, I strongly recommend you proceed with extreme caution and consult with an attorney prior to signing anything. Our home took twice the time to finish as originally promised, and without any unexpected issues coming up along the way. The crews just moved on to start other homes. In fact, the home sat for most of that time nearly done with just a handful of items needing completion, but yet unable to be occupied. (no utilities for example) He rarely returned phone calls, and when he did, they were not timely and he almost always had some bad excuse of some kind. The typical excuse was that "the builder" (Steven Boynton - the name on the bottom of our purchase agreement), who we never met, weren't allowed to talk to, and was nearly impossible to track down, was the hold-up as he was so busy building homes in North Dakota where there is no internet or phone service. Turns out, Steven is an attorney in the Minneapolis area. In fact, most of what Chris Skorseth gave for information never checked out. He had claims of talking to various people and entities related to the construction process but when I followed up, turned out he wasn't. In fact, just the opposite was occurring. Several people needed to get in contact with Chris, but were not getting calls returned, which resonated all too familiar with me and our experience. Again, I suggest getting an attorney before dealing with Chris Skorseth to make sure you have a solid way to deal with him if and when he stops calling you back.

Run, don't walk! I had built a home with Hamilton Taylor Homes in Hermantown MN almost two years ago. During the past year, I have been given the pleasure of working with Jeff Richter. Nothing but stories and excuses after stories and excuse. Lot's of stories in town from other homeowners and contractors that got a bad deal from these guys. We are now not sure who even handles the warranty work. Many other options, be smart.
