By Marshall W.June 20, 2023Design for remodel of lodge's 6 bed/bath suites, powder room, and deck replacement$590,000Verified Hire
Our committee has been delighted to work with Erik Harless, Registered Architect, for our project to remodel and upgrade our retreat center lodge's six-bedroom/bath suites, a powder room, and a deck replacement. He has demonstrated excellence at every stage, including needs assessment, research, conceptualization, schematic design workups, presentations and project administration. Erik is thorough, detailed, supremely patient, and frequently goes over and above in his work. His design solutions are sharp, very attractive, and have both aligned with and exceeded our expectations. He knows building codes, particularly about universal access, right and left, up and down; I am confident he could be a professor in this field. We have been blessed to work under his expert guidance. It is easy for me to recommend Erik Harless without reservation.

My wife and I we're looking to take the unfinished attic in our home and turn it into a bedroom for our second child that had recently arrived. We had a lot of people tell us it was impossible because of X,Y,Z reasons so we were discouraged. We thought it was worth seeking out a professional so we knew whether we had a chance to do what we wanted to support our new boy.
We were recommended to talk to Erik about this through a friend of ours. He came to our home very quickly, outlined his thoughts on the project, and stated he felt that we could do it! It would not be easy, but it was possible, and that was made clear from the get-go. He also clearly outlined the timeline for our drawings, and cost right out of the gate for his services so we knew what we had to budget. I found the costs very reasonable!
There are two major things that I want to point out in working with Erik:
The first was peace of mind. His background in code-work with the city told me that we had found the right person, who would know everything we needed to go to make our project work. This is huge for a paranoid type like me who is always wondering if he is going to hit snags down the road.
The second was our involvement. Erik met with us on Multiple occasions, and also met with my chosen contractor as well before finalizing the completed drawings. He went out of his way to give us multiple options for the room, and we combined a few of our favorites for the final product. It was always about what we wanted, and he was there as a trusted source to help us make the right decisions.
Doing a home renovation was a huge step for us, and Erik is the reason we were able to get it started with a strong foundation (Pun absolutely intended). I will be recommending him to any of my friends who are looking to do a large project in their home.
