Harris Doyle Homes is widely recognized for its energized and progressive team that works diligently to provide a high level of service to its customers. (Really)...My experience with Harris Doyle has been bitter-sweet, but left (me) "the buyer" extremely unhappy. The nightmare of the "Storm Detention Pond right next to Lot 307," An eye sore! "The Side-Setback" where the two house are extremely close, and a different Elevation, than the one I selected. Harris Doyle Agent (DG) failed disclosure of the Detention Pond next to Lot 307 in Gardendale Alabama; Phase 3... when she, the agent was fully aware of the detention pond, but failed to disclose to (me) the buyer? It's very important to have full disclosure that contains information about a Lot as well as purchasing any property. The state of Alabama Commissioner for Relators claims an agent does not have to disclose anything about a property. (REALLY???) I am finding out now Harris Doyle did not own up to their expectations, according to Brooks Harris and Russ Doyle,” Harris Doyle Homes is widely recognized for its energized and progressive team that works diligently to provide a high level of service to its customers.” (Yes!)....But!...... In this case what happened here with Lots 307 & 308? (Beautiful houses? What went wrong? Who is responsible & why failure of disclosure?
My recommendation "DO NOT USE THIS AGENT" this agent has a problem telling the whole truth. She exaggerates a lot. You will think she is the nicest person in the world, but heart is out to sell lots and write up contracts without a heart of interest at all. She caused me my dream home, but there is always something better. Under Article 2 Diane Godber deliberately mislead and steered me to purchase Lot 307 in Fieldstown Crossing, Phase 3
In Gardendale Alabama without fully disclosure of the Lot being next to a detention pond. Diane Godber mislead me that she would represent me. I did not use the agent who was assisting me with the purchase of a home before the end of the year 2016. Ms.Godber mislead me that construction would begin in January 2017 and it did not happen. Diane Godber also informed the Loan officer that construction would begin within a couple of weeks after 23 February 2017, it did not happen. Construction did not begin until on about 25 April 2017 and this is when I discovered there was a ditch next to Lot 307 when the slab/foundation was poured from a video and photo. I immediately sent an email to notify Diane Godber, Project Manager as well as the owners, this could not happen due to medical reasons, and why wasn't this disclosed to me when I purchased the Lot and signed a contract. This is when I realized Ms. Godber was not looking out for my best interest. Ms. Godber misrepresentation and failure to disclose the detention pond and according to Article 2 is an ethical violation concealing information about the Lot. Ms. Godber was more for the Builders and not representing me, but so quickly wanted to refund my earnest money. Never use a dual agent! I have learned a lesson about dual agents. Now I have experienced economical loss due to Ms. Gobder negligence and concealment for not disclosing the Storm Detention Pond next to Lot 307 and Lot 36. -

We have ha issue after issue with this builder including roof and foundation not to mention cabinets and floor. They are arrogant and unwilling to work with us. If not for a friend of ours who helped us to get them to fix our foundation (which was major) we would not be in our home. I wish we had known. We would have definitely used another builder who was more seasoned in the business.

Google is not letting me post my full review (exceeds character max) but you can find it on BBB or Zillow. With that being said, let me just say this – I will never use Harris Doyle again and would NEVER recommend them to anyone else. I am actually not sure how this company that displays so little care will stay in business based off of the less than stellar build quality and the terrible name that they have created for themselves within our neighborhood. I previously built 2 homes with Holland Homes and could not have been happier with the process and the finished product!!
I am surprised that good people like Debbie and Tony stay with a company that is in such disarray. They should be embarrassed of the name that they have created for themselves but then again, are doing nothing about it. I would like to think that we just got caught up in a bad transaction, but I have very, very few neighbors that are actually happy with their process and/or the people involved. They even make you fill out a survey at the closing table, which you can probably guess how mine went. 3 weeks has elapsed, and I have yet to receive a call to apologize or see how they could better their process. Terrible, terrible organization that would not have lasted even this long if they didn’t have Berkshire Hathaway money behind them. If you are looking for a comforting/fair/communicative building experience, look somewhere else. They aren’t it.
My Advice:
1- Do not build with Harris Doyle
2- Stay on top of them because they seem to have no idea on what they are doing.
3- Be prepared for no one, including the “manager” to care about you or your home.
4- Get a home inspection as they love to cut corners.
