After 7 years in a home with only a fireplace we started looking for central heating. I got three bids with Hassler in the middle on price and at the top of the game on layout. As we have an old Berkeley house from the turn of the last century with no existing heater or duct work this was a huge deal to us - and not that straightforward with low crawlspaces, tight attics, latte and plaster walls, and an mid century addition. Mike Hassler came in and did a walk through then came back with a senior installer to verify his plans prior to submitting his bid. Mike's design specified an efficient two stage Carrier gas unit that will meet our needs most days on the lower BTUs and automagically kick in a higher BTU rating on our rare cold days.
The installers were polite and professional and downright awesome! When you own an old Berkeley home with original hardwood floors it is a bit frightening when guys you don't know come in with a sawzall and go to town on your floor. No worries! At the end of the first day we had heater vents all over the house that looked like they were in the original home design. By the third day we were enjoying heat downstairs and a few days later heat upstairs.
Now instead of starting a pot of coffee and heading out to the woodpile first thing, I turn on the heater as I go by and our home is shirtsleeve comfortable by the time the first cup of coffee is poured. As a died in the wool going to burn wood till I can't split it no more type of guy, I got to say that central heating is the best money we ever spent on this home and our experience with Hassler Heating is the icing on the cake!
