    Renovation 3 story townhouse
    $100,000

    We hired Hatchet for the renovation of our 1910 townhouse. They did a terrible job. The kitchen they installed is already so worn out that we need to replace at least the cabinet doors - after 3 years. The door to the deck that they built they had to repair shortly after we moved in. It is going to pieces! Worse - their electrician did such a shoddy job that just today an outlet caught fire and burnt out. Another electrician told me that this was not supposed to be intalled the way it was. This is outright dangerous. And this is not even mentioning all the details like holes they left or the missing silicone around the kitchen sink, the paint that blisters and so on and on. We tried to get them to fix things but Zach the owner just ignored everything. We trusted Zach and we have been deeply disappointed and taken advantage off.

    We're sorry to hear you feel that way, and apologize that our service did not satisfy your expectations. We take a great deal of pride in the work that we do and aim to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction. We reviewed our correspondence during the period of time from the completion of your project in 2016 until the present. During that time we returned to correct the glazing in the glass patio door and to resolve issues with cabinetry doors. We sent service staff and project management to address those and other punch list issues every time we were contacted. During that time we exchanged over 75 emails with you — all with an eye towards bringing your project to full closure. We haven't heard from you since we addressed the last round of punch list items in 2017 Do keep in mind that our craftsmanship and care can only be as successful as the materials that we work with and you opted for a kitchen which, at the time, we advised could be problematic with a young family. As for the electrical issues, we only did a partial re-wire of your home. We don’t know if the outlet you are describing is one of ours. The electrician that we’ve used consistently for the last ten years, and who we used on your project, has never failed a DOB inspection and has never had a fire. He would be as concerned as we are to hear about that situation and would be mortified at even the slightest suggestion that that would happen on his watch, as are we.
