An update to review. Bad experience , don't recommend. Promised 90 day completion in writing, took them 7.5 month to complete. The worst warranty, only 3-5 year. Including Drains/plumbing under gunite. Any equipment warranty must be submitted by the property owner.
The owner (Mike) managed Hawaiian Pools and runs the construction end of the company. He didnt provide all paper work(missing permit for wall extension). Had problems with county permits not being completed and place house in legal situation for improper work/permit procedures. Owner/Construction department (Mike) kept loosing/ misplacing paperwork, equipment misplaced. Ordered wrong equipment. Failed to order all required equipment, adding to delay. Did not supervise subcontractor. Yard was mess. Work area was a mess. The owner had an excuse for everything, the pool construction delay held up other contractor jobs I had lined up. You have to stay on top of them. You never know when they would be back to do more work. I had the hardest time contacting them to find out the status and when they would be back to work. And when a problem was found with the quality of work, the owner would say, "I dont see the problem, show me exactly what your talking about". When I pointed out the pavers to the steps falling apart(safety issue), his reply was, "I think your making a big thing out of nothing". As a paying customer for a big ticket item. I expect better service and a professional attitude. On occasions, Mike would come to check out the pool progress and provide paperwork for the state to do the next inspection. He would always complain about driving from his house or the office just to come out to my pool ( l felt he made it seem like it was such a big hassle to do this task, he made me feel like an inconvenience). During final walk thru, I asked about a missing valve (that I was told by plumber it was needed) to the waterfall system installed by them. The owners reply was it isnt needed. You not getting it. Dave had to step in and tell him it was needed, it was promised.
Make sure you're warranty is active. because 6.5 months after final walkthrough my pump had started making a very load winding sound. When I called Hawaiian pools to see what could be done it was insisted that it was material or debris in system and not covered by warranty. Call pool service or manufacturer of equipment. So I did as instructed. Pentair reps inspected and pump needs major repair. 100% covered.
The sale department is managed by Dave, the owners brother. Dave is easy to talk to and will do what he can to get things done. Even if he has to do it himself. It was explained to me that he could do so much more but Mike will over rule him because Mike is the owner and has the final say so. It seems Dave's attitude is, he wants you to be happy and that the quality of work is the best. He wants to make things right. But he isnt the owner and the owner doesn't see it that way. To my observation, more work was completed with Dave in charge while Mike was on vacation.
In the end, the pool is beautiful. Leading brand name products. And the fire pit is a volcano, just the way I like it, but it was the process from the beginning that was a headache.
In final review. I will not recommend this company.
