    Concrete floor for barn
    $43,000

I hired Ultra Concrete to pour a barn floor. They took me for a ride. Never laid a proper foundation. Cracked concrete in a week. Concrete had 6 inch up and down elevation across the whole 80ft. Could not drive my forklift on it the elevations were so bad. 100 percent crooks.

    Driveway
    $12,000

Hired this Co to do a driveway. They pulled the old one May 6th. 9 weeks still no driveway. Excuse after excuse. Payed $7,642 and never got our driveway or our refund. If anyone can help please contact me. We had to hire another contractor who finished the job in 4 days but had to take another loan on the house and are having a hard time making payments now. I have MS and do not need this stress in my life. I have been very ill since this happened and I don't see myself recovering.

    Move garage

Kevin Harrow is a con man. He'll take your deposit, do 5% of the work, and never finish. Recommend you stay away.

Cement work at two locations, home and business.

Still waiting to get our money back. One job was never started (still no refund after 2 years), and another job was so poorly completed (cement work in 2017) that it's already cracked, and pretty ragged looking. Our small claims court win did nothing toward getting our money back (roughly 5K). Culprits are Kevin Harrow, Tony and Kip. I see they've changed their office address from Troy to Clinton Twp, probably hiding from all of us whose money they took.

    Cement
    $1,400

Do not hire this company for any type of home improvements. We hired them May 2017 for a cement slab. We were given the run around by Kevin, Tony and Kip, the one who came and surveyed our job and took out money. Have been promised a refund since last September and finally received it May 2018. Check out the story by Ameera David on WXYZ in January if you have any doubts.

    Cement patio

I had HCI put a patio in my backyard. It was a nightmare getting the job done. Kevin acts like he is a good business man and a good family man. He is neither in my eyes. My experience is the same as the above complaints. The cement job was completed; but not as the worksheet agreed on. Yes!!! Work sheet and no actual contract. My mistake. Shame on Kevin and the people who work for him. If he has you hooked into letting him do your work, i feel your frustration.

    cement pad
    $2,654

If only we could give HCI zero stars!

We hired HCI to do a small cement project on 7/28/17. We paid 50% down ($1,327) and the check was cashed the next day. The first crew was due to start mid-September, but could not do the exposed aggregate type of cement called out in the contract (seems like Kevin Harrow the president of HCI would know that...). The second crew was supposed to start the project mid-October after daily calls to HCI, only to have worked 1/2 day until stopping as they were not getting paid by Kevin Harrow for other projects. The third crew was assigned mid-November, but HCI's sub-contractor, Sean Belcher, just took an additional $650 for "materials" and did nothing more. We received excuse after excuse for not starting the project and finally the weather turned too cold for cement work.

Now, after being exposed on Channel 7 Action News early February, (wxyz.com/news/region/oak…), Kevin Harrow advised that he was sending us a full refund. First, he said the check was in the mail, then he wanted to hand-deliver it to us personally, and finally, after several more excuses and no check, we are taking him and HCI to court.

Our advice: stay as far away from HCI and their shell companies as you possibly can. If you are lucky enough to get your job done, their quality is terrible. Just visit Better Business Bureau to see the many complaints and google reviews! You will see many stories like ours, many of which we have spoken to in person.

    Driveway replacement
    $4,600

I've been reading the latest reviews from thus summer and they are scary and confirm the frustration we have had with this company. To make matters worse, we have paid more than half of the what the cost but keep being told that it's going to get done soon. We have them so many chances to get a,refund. I contacted hank to the rescue if anyone wants to join. Let me know

    concrete work

Kevin Harrow took my money ($3170.00), did no work, and would not return my deposit. The company is fraudulent, and the owner is a scam artist.

Got their name thru Thumbtack and had them come out for a bid. Never showed and never called. After complaining, they begged for another chance I did(HUGH MISTAKE). Came out and gave me a good price to extend my patio and I gave him $700 deposit and on the contract he put 2 to 4 weeks; this was beginning of May. After 5 wks. I called and the owner Kevin said there were delays due to something with D.O.T. but would get back with me next day.....nothing,. Waited another week and when I couldn't get hold of Kevin at one number I called a 2nd # got hold of Tony one of his workers, and he to kept giving me excuses. Every time I called; from May thru June they never called me back as promised. As Kevin would say, ''you have my word!!'' By mid July I was getting fed up and reached out to Thumbtack where I got their name in the first place. It was now mid July. After thumbtack reached out to them and heard nothing back, they issued a check on July 25th. for my deposit and charged it to H.C.I.'s account. Just hope the check doesn't bounce.

    Concrete patio and steps

Great company full of very professional workers. Over the phone Kevin was speaking with a display of at most care and courtesy . I was looking into them doing a patio for me and I had to do a review for them. I was impressed with the capability of even the apprentice when it came to telling me about his expectations and responsibilities. They all show a high regard for both their work and each other. as they work you can feel more of a family atmosphere coming from the site and they still worked at a great pace while still looking as if they all enjoyed each others company. When the Owner Kevin showed up their was no need for the guys to act any different or move any faster. They worked well enough together to treat it as a family effort. You don't see team work like these guys possess. Great job Guys.

    5 windows

My advice…. Beware! Do no use this company! At best they are incompetent and at worst, they are scammers. Don’t make the foolish mistake I did and not check up on a company just because they have a nice flyer and say they are professionals.

I signed a contract with H C Harrow Companies with Kevin the owner, for windows in late February of 2017, and put a cash down payment of $1435.00. I told him I was in no rush to get them in.
I expected to hear something from them in 4 to 6 weeks. (This is a very normal time frame in construction). Sometime in late April I called to see where we were at with the windows, and I was told that the windows were in and I would be put on the schedule for installation. A week or so later, I called again for an update. I was told the windows came in, but were new construction windows (with a nailing flange) and they would have to order them again. I worked in construction and this is not unheard of, so I had no concerns at this point.
Another couple weeks went by and I had to call him, again for status of my windows. I was told they were in and he would schedule installation. (I don't remember the date he gave me). He also said he would contact me on the coming Monday. Monday came and went with no call again! I called him to see what was going on. His response was Monday was his birthday and he decided to take it off. I told him he should have called to let me know. Then I told him politely but seriously, he needed to keep me appraised of status. He agreed, was very apologetic and said he would call me with updates. Then he said he would call me soon. He did not call.
After waiting again a few days, I called him again and the excuses began to flow. He thought he would wait until the weather was a little warmer or better. He had all his trucks parked because they needed to be safety inspected and buy DOT or one of the regulating agencies. This sounded very suspicious to me. Again I was in the business and had a builder’s license so it didn't sound right that every one of his trucks would be prohibited from use at the same time. But, with no 'proof', I could not say he was lying. A few days or a week later, (I should have, but did not keep an exact record of dates) I again had to call him to get status. He told me he would schedule my windows for installation. Again something came up. I told him I was going to cancel, and he said something about he already had the windows. Well at this point, I am beginning to not care if he has to lose money on the windows, but I wanted to give him ‘every’ opportunity to make this right. Maybe I’m just a sucker. In fact I am pretty sure I am.
Then he gave me an install date of 5 June. Another excuse… Then he told me he would move me up to the top of the list, “Nobody ahead of me” for Wednesday the 21 of June with the only exception being that if it rained, it would slip to Thursday with the same qualification for rain, then it would be on Friday. Wednesday came and by 1:00, I heard nothing from HCI! I had to call him and was told they were on another job and they had problems. (What happened to me being on top of the list, I don’t know.) I’m still waiting for a status call. He never calls to keep me informed!
After this showing, I am extremely concerned about the quality of his installers. If my windows are not installed by tomorrow, I will definitely cancel the project and if Kevin refuses to give me back my deposit, I’ll be consulting an attorney to get my deposit back, and if possible, my attorney fees and court costs back.
I will also be calling the Licensing and Regulatory Dept. in Lansing to file a complaint and then my attorney.
If I could, I would give less than one star.

Demo old garage, remove Concrete and lay new Concrete and build a new garage

: Kevin came out to my house in December 2016 and took a $10,000 deposit from me to demo an existing garage, lay a foundation to pour a new 2 car garage and build the garage.he claimed this demo would be done in the winter so we could pour Concrete in the spring
Comments: As of 6/2017, he has just came out and did the demo of existing garage. Never pulled any permits, witch are required. From December when he took the check from me ,told me we would do the demo first and lay a foundation so come spring I would be first on the list. He did nothing he said he was going to do. April came and still empty promises and no show. Finally got him to come out in early May and do the demo on the garage tore down the garage and left it sitting in the back of my yard a week later finally drop a dumpster and filled it and hauled it away said they would be right back to tear up the concrete and could never get them to show all the while knowing that he's doing other jobs and getting others people's work done I had to threaten him with jail for taking my money and not coming through with doing what he supposed to do. Eventually it was a city of Madison Heights that got my money back for me by threatening him with jail if he didn't do so my advice with any contractor work closely with the city they will back you in situations where you cannot get the work done this guy was a real piece of work drives around and high price cars but can't do what he promises

    $4,000

I worked with HCI inc for a concrete job I needed done for my driveway. Sales managers new what they were talking about and they understood I was under budget. The crew showed up and did the job within the timeframe I needed so no complaints there. They were willing to come out when I needed as that was my biggest issue. My neighbor used these guys and he seemed happy so I would recommend for anyone interested in a good concrete job.

    Siding

This company didn't come out for scheduled quote. I called and they said there was an emergency with the person coming out for the quote. So I rescheduled and the day they came out they were 30 minutes late for the appointment. Some guy with tight jeans, baseball hat and t shirt with DRESS shoes walked around the house, Didn't write down anything. Gave me a generic b-card and left. Said he would send a quote. NOTHING.......... This is crap service and I would never use this company.
