The job was to gut our current tub and shower, install a new tub, raise the plumbing to fit the new tub and install a new tile surround. The project took over 6 months and was never fully completed. On top of the 6+ months it took to get this semi completed, the work that was done was sub par and the plumbing caused water to pour from the ceiling in our basement. The tub was installed unevenly and collects water in the corners, there's grout in between the wall and tub where calk should be. Half the grout fell out and the contractor tried to repair by caulking over the grout making it now look like we have black mold. The contractor's "finishing touches" were to put 1/4 round around the ceiling and along the floor. The nails were not punched in and they were just painted over top of causing them to rust. He also used a ceiling paint that didn't match what we currently had causing us to punch in nails, patch and repaint after he never came back. The contractor never connected the overflow to any plumbing and under the tub there wasn't a gasket seal against the bottom of the tub. The leak in the basement was caused by the contractor connecting PVC to copper piping and not using a coupling. Our friend who completed the work said "the contractor clearly didn't know what he was doing when it came to the plumbing. There were essential pieces of the faucet and drain not assembled properly or just completely missing. It looked like he tried to seal it all [that was leaking] with silicone caulking." In the pictures you can see the abundance of calk and the lack of a gasket.
