  I'd like to say that my project was 3 months behind... or even 5 months behind, but the fact remains that Heartridge Builders did not so much as apply for construction permits until 8 months into the project. This was after receiving a duplicate deposit on 4/7/2017… eight months earlier. Heartridge Builders received over 30% of the value of the project on 4/7/2017 and never applied for permits until 11/15/17. The owner will, much like other reviews suggests, deflect and say it wasn't his fault, but the facts are in black and white on the Wake County website... notes included.
  When we originally inquired about the duplicate deposit payment, Heartridge Builders said they did not receive the additional funds. It was not until the bank got involved (asking for a return of funds) that Heartridge Builders admitted to receiving the additional funds, and then misappropriated the money, by using it on another project.
  On July 24, 2017 we were advised that permits were in place and work would resume immediately following. In August work did begin... by “work” I mean Heartridge Builders put in our driveway and completed the home site grading. This was the last work to be performed on the project. In November 2017 we were advised that Heartridge Builders was having a difficult time obtaining permits due to a necessary flood soil test. Thinking this was unusual, considering we were told permits were in place in July, we contacted Wake County to dig deeper. We were informed by the Environmental and Health Inspection Office, the Permitting Office, and by the Director of Wake County inspections that no communication had occurred between Heartridge Builders and the inspection offices until November 15, 2017. At this time we learned we had been lied to (twice) and stolen from once. Additionally, the bank has yet to receive a reply in response to their demand letter asking Heartridge Builders to return the duplicate deposit paid out last 4/7/2017.
  Of course, the owner of Heartridge Builders maintains that his business did nothing wrong… and they’re partially correct… they did NOTHING. Unless receiving $93,244.50 on 4/7/2017, using those funds to finance other projects, then applying for construction permits on 11/15/2017 (8 months later) could ever be considered “doing nothing wrong”. What’s most concerning is that he believes his defense to be true. Perhaps it’s a case of lying to oneself for so long that you eventually believe it. Bottom line… Heartridge Builders lied to us multiple times, overtly stole money from us (and our bank) and crushed our dreams of building on our beautiful 15-acre piece of Zen.
  Don’t consider Heartridge Builders without doing some research. You will find that my situation is not unique within his portfolio. There are multiple cases on each review outlet to choose from… all with a very similar theme. If you need a General Contractor, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. If by chance you find Heartridge Builders within your options, then please turn around and run immediately. I’m confident this will not be the last complaint Heartiridge Builders receives… don’t let the next complaint be yours.
