We used Heese Interiors as the general contractor on a general remodeling project and Patti Lockwood of Lockwood Designs as the designer (she also lives in our neighborhood and came highly recommended by others we knew). Tom is a great person, a solid Christian who practices his faith daily. His subs did outstanding work and he held them to time schedules and costs. Tom also did many of the small projects himself. We did our own demo so the project was ready for them when they started.
Our only problem was getting a solid cost down as we are retired and on a retirement budget. We changed some items at the beginning of the project and redid Tom's original spread sheet based on what we cut out. He had problems recognizing that when it came time to pay but we stuck by our redo of the budget. Make certain any changes are agreed to in advance (especially including costs as close to actual as one can predict). He was good at allowing us to make savings by purchasing and picking up supplies (so we didn't pay him for the time it took).
Tom was good in getting subs back to correct problems and adhere to the one year warranty that began once the total project was done. Tom was flexible with Patti who provided input on construction as how it related to her design. They have worked together on quite a few projects and interact well.
