  Install and finish wood floors

  I had my wood floor installed by Heritage Wood Floor Specialists back in 2014. I am so glad I did! We had a wonderful experience with the owner, installers and finishers. They are very knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions. I learned that they all have been with the company for 10 or more years, which put my mind at ease. The owner gave me several options for wood and finishes. There was even an option for a low VOC product that, after 4 years I am still very happy with the results. There was no smell after the floor dried and my floors look beautiful. If you want a custom floor that fits your unique taste and home, look no further. Heritage Wood Floor Specialists comes highly recommended by my builder, designer and my personal experience was wonderful.

  Exceedingly Poor Customer Service

  I came to Heritage Wood Specialist (2870 Lafranier Road) wanting to have some flooring repaired in my kitchen. Neal, the owner of the company, came to my home to take measurements. He said that he would e-mail me a labor and materials estimate within the next day or two. Nearly two months has passed and I haven't heard anything from him. Thinking that perhaps he had gotten busy or that some unforeseen occurrence had "jammed him up," I called on three (3) separate occasions to inquire. On each occasion, I spoke with his secretary who repeatedly said "I will put another note on his desk." While I found his secretary to be very pleasant, I find myself at a loss in understanding why Neal hasn't provided the promised estimate or at least called to say that he wasn't available to do the work. I'm quite honestly totally mystified as to why he didn't respond. I suppose it's possible that the job was too small and didn't provide a sufficient profit margin or that he's a procrastinator with poor management skills. Whatever the explanation, I know for a fact that I experienced his lack of responsiveness as a demonstration of rudeness and exceedingly poor customer service. As a result, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

  Tearout and Installation of New Hardwood Flooring

  My wife and I contacted Heritage Wood Floor Specialists to explore the possibility of them installing prefinished hardwood flooring in our home. We were interested in factory, prefinished flooring because we wanted to avoid the dust associated with preparatory and between-coat sanding, and the smell of the outgassing caused by the multiple applications of the finish coating. We also wanted to limit the number of days when workers would need to have access to our home to apply and to allow multiple applications of the finish to cure before reapplication. Following an extended "rant" concerning how crappy factory-applied finishes are, it became clear that we had come to the wrong place.

  After leaving the Heritage Showroom, I got on the Internet to see what other companies and installers were saying about prefinished flooring. Contrary to what my wife and I heard from the owner of Heritage, the resounding opinion was that factory applied finishes on hardwood flooring are equal to, if not superior to on-site applications of finish. In my opinion, Heritage Wood Floor Specialists haven't kept up with 21st century technology. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.
