They were hired to put 3 inches of asphalt on my concrete driveway. We chose this company because Fred said the driveway could be done before the end of the season. They were hired October 22nd. Other companies were booked out for the season so we hired them to get it done before winter. They tore up the concrete November 4th and noticed who ever put the concrete, previous to us purchasing the house, did not use any gravel. The contract said they would be responsible for putting any gravel needed if it should but he asked for extra money and we had no problem giving them extra given the circumstances. For some reason, thats all they did that day. Removed concrete and set down gravel. Fred said they would come back in the weekend to roll it out, which they did but that was it. We stayed with gravel all winter long because they procrastinated. I was pregnant in my 3rd trimester during winter with a drive way i could plow because gravel would come out if we did. It was a very stressful winter for us.
The following year, on May 11th they came around to setting the asphalt down. When work was done he ran water over the driveway and there was multiple puddles but he said it was normal. He put a quarter over the puddle to measure and said it was fine.
Within 2 weeks (May25th) of the asphalt placement the puddles grew. I set quarter down and put my finger on top and it reached the lines on my fat finger. The puddles grew in depth and size. I reached out to him but he blew me off until September 28th saying he had a family death and he had to get his business going after coming back from his trip. The one thing i hated most was his lack of follow up. No communication and you need to haunt him down multiple times before you get a response.
Also, the day of placing the asphalt he wanted to charge me 1K more. He said he wouldn't have charged me so low. I brought out the contract and showed him what we agreed on. He was not happy.
He came out on September 28th said the water wasn’t running because we needed to seal coat it and wanted to charge $500 to only sealcoat the driveway. My husband and Fred had a conversation about the whole situation and Fred agreed to come rip put the asphalt and redo the driveway. To this day nothing has been done.
I have pictures, video, text messages to prove all of this. But i don't see an option here to uplaod.
