    Build a Custom Home
    $390,000

It is interesting to read the positive reviews for Hillan since so many of us were given homes with poor quality that we had to pay over $15,000 out of our pockets to fix. I know Patrick will refute my statements but I have $18,345 in repair and construction bills to prove my statements are the truth. Any visitor can come to my home walk across the uneven floors that Hillan left me. I asked Hillan to reimburse me for the repairs we paid from their failed attempts to fix construction issues not once but twice in 2021. Patrick Raye's refused to acknowledge the reimbursement requests and we are stuck with huge repair bills. To a potential buyer reading this beware this is the type of company you are dealing with. Take your hard earned savings and hire another builder.

"My wife and I are currently going through the process of building a home with Hillan Homes. We had been looking at homes on the market for about 6 months when we came across one of Patrick's homes that were under construction. We are first time home buyers and new to the construction game. Needless to say, we were a little nervous about doing something this big, but after meeting with Pat several times and seeing the quality of the construction we decided to pull the trigger and move forward. Since we started we have absolutely loved the entire process!!! Pat is very good at explaining how the process works and is ALWAYS available for a late night phone call. The quality of work is second to none and working with Pat we truly feel that we have made the 100% right decision in building the home. I will refer any and all people that I come across the Hillan Homes for any construction projects from here on out.

After going through the process with Hillan Homes, we would never purchase a pre-existing house. We would only build on a lot, and the only builder we would use would be Hillan Homes

    new house

My husband and I recently moved into our gorgeous new home in Royal Oak, Michigan, built by Hillan Homes. We both work full time and travel consistently, so working with a trustworthy builder was of utmost importance. We were very particular about the home building company we chose and we couldn't be happier with Patrick Raye and Hillan Homes.

    New home

My wife and I started to look for our future home in the Royal Oak/ Berkley area. We started our search with just a few items on our wish list and had no idea where we would end up. We wanted a home with: a good amount of living space for a growing family, nice amenities/ upgrades, and a home with a safe neighborhood and good quality schools. After looking at hundreds of home on-line and visiting several homes in-person, we came across a builder named Hillan Homes. Hillan Homes was building new construction homes in exactly the location we desired. Beth Reaume (Hillan's realtor) went out of her way on a Saturday to walk us through one of the ongoing Hillan Homes' projects. To be frank, we immediately fell in love. Beth walked us through the house on Franklin and explained all that came standard on a Hillan Homes. Granite counter tops, upgraded trim, landscaping, hardwood floors, paint colors, 9 ft. basement, and a gas fireplace, just to name a few. At that time, there were several locations for us to choose from and we chose the lot on West Blvd. The following week we got to meet the builder, Patrick Raye. Patrick took us through many ongoing projects, all in various stages of construction, and truly showed us his passion for his work. No question went unanswered and no stone went unturned with Patrick. This very walk through with Patrick made us feel completely comfortable with choosing Hillan Homes.

    New home

Michael and I would like to thank the whole Hillan Homes team for our amazing new home. We just love it! We did our research before signing with Patrick and found his quality of homes and experienced team surpassed the competition. We wanted a builder that would also be there after we took possession, and they have lived up to our expectations. Most new home buyers that are building new homes for the first time need to consider a few things other than price. They have to know that homes get delayed because there is a severe shortage of trades in Michigan and Patrick is very picky about who he takes on. Quality is number one. Thank you to the whole Hillan Homes team: Patrick, Shannon, John, Jay, Jennifer, and Beth.

Recently my wife and I purchased a Hillan home and we would definitely recommend Hillan Homes, Inc to anyone looking to build a home in the future. Soon after signing our purchase agreement we received a call from Patrick personally thanking us for purchasing one of his homes, and his "customer first" attitude set a positive tone throughout the building process.
During our building adventure, Patrick gave us the full custom experience by giving us the option to select everything from the colors of brick and vinyl on the exterior, to the tile/ granite. flooring, and paint of the interior. This approach allowed us to customize the home to the needs of our current family, as well as allowing us to expand into the future.
Patrick's positive tone created a low stress environment for us, as this was our first time building a home. All of our questions throughout the process were always returned promptly whether it be email, text, or over the phone. Patrick also made sure to keep us updated on the progress of the home during every element of the build.
Patrick makes it his personal goal to leave every customer satisfied with the final product they receive when the home is completed. After closing on our home, all items on our punch list such as dry wall repairs, paint touch ups, scratched door wall glass, or other manufacturer defects were quickly noted and resolved in a timely manner. We are very satisfied with our new home and would hire Hillan Homes again in the future if we were ever planning to build again.

We would recommend Hillan homes to anyone thinking about building a new home. We had the pleasure of working with Patrick Raye and his team for nearly a year as they constructed our home and couldn't image working with anyone else. Patrick and his team were a pleasure to work with. We never felt any pressure and knew that we would end up with what we wanted and not what they were going to give us. Right from the get go, we worked together to plan a home that we could see our family living in for a lifetime. When it came time to start customization, Patrick was right there to help guide us and make the best decisions for both our needs and our budget. This process continued until the day our home was delivered; we believe that this was a key element for making this experience so successful.
We can't thank Patrick and his team enough for all of the effort and hard work to make our dream a reality. We have been in our new home for over six months and enjoy it every day!

We built our home in 2016, they did a great job! It still looks great today!

It’s the quality that really stands out, we got to pick whatever we wanted. Problems were small. Everything was worked though well.

If we built again, it would be with Hillan.

The process was poor. The lack of professionalism exceeds what one can imagine. I tried for nearly three years to have my leaking egress window repaired with minimal response from Hillan Homes. I was told in writing “The egress window is simple, whether you think so or not” followed some time later by “I am struggling with the window well” - 3 years later the egress well was still flooding and water was leaking through the window frame into my basement. I guess the problem wasn’t so simple after all. The construction plan called for drain tile with nylon sock and pea gravel above and below the drain tile. What I received was some type of permeable footing without pea gravel. After the threat of legal action, Hillan Homes offered to reimburse less than the full amount of the cost to repair the problem, but only if I signed a confidentiality agreement, a non disparaging agreement and agreed not to hold Hillan Homes responsible for any future problems in my home as a result of the poor quality workmanship they delivered. I rejected the offer. In another act of defiance by Hillan Homes, I contacted Hillan Homes about the lawn sprinkler system flooding my neighbor’s property and was told in writing “this isn’t our problem”. Basically, too many instances of Hillan Homes not taking responsibility of situations which I thought Hillan Homes should provide a remedy. I am unable to attach pictures to this review, but you can see them if you sign into Angie’s List or see Google reviews. Additionally, there are more reviews from other customers with similar poor experiences. Let my mistake be a simple lesson for you - steer clear of Hillan Homes.

    New Build
    $593,000

We worked with Hillan Homes on two builds, they were conscientious and attentive to our needs.

Both of our homes are well built with quality in mind. We were allowed to select anything we wanted and worked with their “selection specialist” to stay in budget.

I read the other review on Hillan and it is in no way the experience we had.

    Home Construction -NEW
    $395,000

Our home build was completed in August 2016. The walk through of the home revealed uneven flooring, uneven stairs, paint splattered on the cabinets and a significant amount work below standard and even incomplete. The door trim on the garage entry door was left unpainted. That error took nine months to have the builder paint and complete. The hardi plank siding was damaged on installation , this took eight months of numerous requests to get the work complete The house is brown and the painter that was contracted was careless and splattered white trim paint on the siding to point where the white paint error can be see from the street The builder has extended out email replies as long as two weeks which has made the warranty process painful. We have threatened to sue the builder twice to keep the process moving. As we live in the house we are more disappointed as the walls crack, sod dies and promises left broken. We have filed a complaint also with the Michigan Home Builders Association. If you are looking to build a new home in the Berkley - Royal Oak area please use Robertson or Frame and All.
