According to the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors (http://www.nclbgc.org/consinfo_fr.html), this builder's license is invalid. This means the builder did not renew his license, and it expired December 31, 2010. Furthermore, it has come to my attention that this builder has had numerous judgements filed against him by various creditors and sub-contractors. I also found the attached Better Business Bureau complaint (http://www.bbb.org/raleigh-durham/business-reviews/home-builders/hinson-custom-builders-in-raleigh-nc-90174907) which details his failures to honor warranties and details how the client was harassed by unpaid sub-contractors. After a discussion with the licensing board, this builder is legally able to build as long as contracts are less than $30,000. I would definitely not recommend entering into any kind of business arrangement with this builder.
