    Roof Repair
    $9,000

Hippo roofing is a SHAM start to finish. My husband and I knew there were damaged boards, flashing and facia that needed to be replaced based on our home inspection when we bought the property in February. We contacted 4 different roofing companies for estimates. The salesman from Hippo came out and sold us on their Guardian roof because it included unlimited boards and extra facia board as welln as a warranty. We were very clear that we wanted the “rotten” boards and facia replaced, my husband who is a general contractor estimated it would be at least 11 or 12 boards. We were assured that it would be taken care of. With multiple problems during the install we were happy when they said they were finished with the roof. Upon our final walk through my husband asked how many boards they replaced and he was told 2. Only 2?? We were confused. My husband at this time, went into the attic and saw that in fact many of the boards we had asked to be replaced were not done, as well the flashing was simply caulked and same with the facia. We brought this up to the salesman and other employee and were told it would be addressed at the Monday meeting ( this was on Sat) Even our salesman was shocked to find out that these items were not done. 3 days later, the GM calls after we have emailed and called with no response and basically tells us that the wood is only discolored and that its technically not “rotten” so it wasn’t replaced. Same story for the flashing, the rust is only discoloration and isn’t deteriorating. We explained that we were very clear that we expected these items to be replaced and that the salesman that came out and brought our contract assured it would be. We got the salesman on a call with the GM and he even admitted that those were our expectations. Hippos position is that they are not technically rotten and that only boards that were are to be replaced. They take no responsibility in the lack of communication between what we expected and what we actually got. No responsibility in explaining what their definition of rotten actually is. Even their salesman admitted on the phone call that he didn’t know exactly what it meant until he researched it because of this situation with our property. How do you have someone selling roofs based on wood being “rotten” or not and he doesn’t even know. How is the average person supposed to know what rotten wood is if the salesman doesn’t. Their position is that the contract didn’t have any specifications on things being replaced other than “rotten wood” even though when we did the initial consultation we pointed out our version of the “rotten” wood. Their solution is that we have a warranty,(which we paid extra for) but with how things went and other reviews they would probably find some loop hole or grey area to not hold up their end on that as well. I’d be surprised if they were even in business long enough to keep it up at the rate they are pissing people off.

SO… unless you are an expert on rotten wood, or list every single thing you want done down to the nail ( because they will probably argue that) I would NOT recommend this company. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and just SHADY!. They take no responsibility for their employees and mistakes made on their end. RUNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!

Hippo is one of the best companies that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They offer the best financing, best warranty, and best employees in the business. They are an established contractor in the Melbourne area, and with their 50 year free annual inspections and maintenance I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon.

Hippo Roofing completed a roof repair for me a couple of years ago. They arrived on time and did an excellent job at a more than fair price. They have also done work for two of my immediate neighbors and all of us are very pleased with their workmanship!

I am giving a 1 star rating because that is th only way this site will take my comments I give them less then 0 . I called Hippo Roofing to make emergency repairs to my roof after an oak tree fell on it. They convinced me that they were going to do a really good job--ha--ha-- They did not pay their supplier and I have a 13,096 dollar lien on my home . they received 3 checks from my insurance company for $ 50,000--$28,051.63--$2,067.02 and one from me to upgrade the roofing shingles for $5,400. $7,800 was paid to a public adjuster that they brought to me. and I withheld $5,000 which will not begin to pay for what they did not finish or ruined or the unbelievable stress that I suffered . They insisted on doing the roof while we were going through a rainy period. I woke one night to rain pouring down my bay window down stairs coming down from the roof and the bay window upstairs. One of their workers stepped on a valley on the roof broke the material that was not properly adhered to the valley ( there was air under it) thus a flood inside my house. They did not do all the work that they told the insurance co. should be done.( The insurance company was paying because an oak tree fell on my house during a wind and rain storm ) The fascia around the roof is ruined . It will cost about $3450 to replace it They destroyed a gate. I have already paid $285 to replace .it I waited for quite a while hoping that they would come back and clean up and finish (no such luck) While they were here one of their workers covered my central airconditioning unit while it was running . I came home and it wasn`t working I called someone to come check it ,they said it got extremely hot and cut off.Heaven knows what that did to its lifespan. The insulation was not replaced--the -spray for mold was not done-I have a lot of tar on my patio--one of the trusses was not repaired-- the stone on my front porch was chipped -- They covered my grass with plastic tarps and literally cooked it--it is dead in several places--they replaced the dry wall where the leak ocurred but I can`t use the custom shades for the windows downstairs because all three have different inside measurememts--I am having new shades made by Elaines draperies at a cost of $250 --it would have been more but I still had some fabric from the original shades left over-I can barely get the far right window open because the dry wall is not right--I did not make them replace the upstairs ceiling I let them paint it with Kilz--I didnt make them replace the carpet upstairs or the wood floor down stairsThe wood floor is not too bad but it is not the same .They did not want to call the drying people they brought some small fans that were not adequate I called and paid for a moisture control company myself . etc. etc In appreciation they did not pay the building supplier .They told the supplier that they were not paid and that I owed them . The states attorney office told me that to not pay when they had been paid and also to tell the supplier that they( Hippo Roofing) had not been paid were both 2nd degree felonys. This is being followed up.I have had 2 companys tell me that they were way overpaid for this work I could say alot more but you get the picture . BEWARE I give this company minus 0 stars
