I paid Hollis for a job that was not done right. Had other contractors come and review his work and was told that is was all wrong and not up to standards. Took Mr.Hollis to court and won he agreed to pay but has never sent any payments. He was painting awnings in the rain his pointing was not done right and had to be redone.

This contractor started the job before having the proper building permits so the city stopped the job. They ran and got a permit completed the job that the city would not approve because the job was not up to code. The city has taken me to court 3 times and Hollis contracting has never pulled through to make the corrections needed. I had to hire a structural engineer and another contractor to correct the poor job done by Hollis Contracting. I had been a long time friend of their family and wanted to give them the business but they gave me the shaft and it has been nothing but a nightmare. Hollis Contracting was even aware that the home they were working on was occupied by my 86 yr old sickly mother. Unbelievable that these people even have licenses to be in business.
Response from Hollis Contracting March 11, 2016For this job we have multiple pictures posted on every site we use. This was a great job done. Tore down the existing porch to put a beautiful one back up along with tearing up the yard to pore in a beautiful porch. This work was done great and the customer was very happy and even had us do more work for him. The one problem that arose was when his neighbor, who he always has problems with had called about the work. Even though we had inspectors come out to the job multiple times, there was just a few things which needed to be added. We had no problem in doing so because he was a family friend and with the work we done wanted it to continue to be beautiful. Being so busy in the summer time, a week or so had passed and he had decided to have another contractor come to add the few things. Because of this he feels a certain way even though he still believes the work is a great job. We still keep in contract and have no issues and pay the payments towards the work he needed to pay for. -
By Cheryl F.August 4, 2015Remove and reset foyer stone floor and grout$1,0502 daysPoor Workmanship
Failure to rectify the poor quality work after notification by customer; failure to return to job to complete job as promised; lack of respect for the customer--does not return calls or emails, or notify customer that they are not coming as expected; poor work habits--did not clean up and remove trash from site.
I would not hire them again.

They didn't follow through with our contract agreement. They didn't complete any constructive work, just demo but they wanted more money. When I refused to pay, especially since they didn't even get a permit yet, they said we can't operate without payment and we need more money to pay our workers. They said they had money tied up with the plumber and electrician but they never did any work. They walked out on the job after 2 weeks with little work to show for it.
I would not recommend this contractor.
I was unable to rate them with zero stars.

It took me more than a week to get a job done that should have been done in a day. I was overcharged and had to keep on calling them to see if they were coming and always received some excuse or the other. They did not finish the work that I wanted to be done, but I got so frustrated that I gave up. They have a terrible rating with the BBB, but I have only myself to blame for that because I didn't check beforehand. I have learned my lesson.....if I could give them zero stars, I would. Beware!
