Homecraft Builders was very helpful and knowledgeable through the planning process, but was difficult to work with beyond that. In our initial contacts, Jeff went out of his way to make sure our concerns were addressed and shared his expertise to help us make the best decisions for our deck. He provided the lowest quote and seemed the most experienced of several contractors we contacted, although the quote seemed very arbitrary (no breakdown of costs, etc). Unfortunately, after signing the contract, communication was very poor. Jeff had told us we could expect a four-week turnaround time for our deck; after over four weeks had passed we had not heard from him since the day we signed the contract so I reached out to him. He was accommodating in getting the deck done before we went out of town the next week, however the lack of communication on his end up until that point was concerning. We wanted to know when we would need to move our furniture outside, crate our dogs, etc., so it was disappointing that he didn't feel a need to inform us of his plans in advance. On the first day on the job, the workers broke our sliding glass door. They left shards of glass all over our patio, yard, and deck; they made no effort to clean up the mess and so we have been unable to use our backyard for our dogs until we are able to very thoroughly clean now that the glass has been spread out due to the disruptions to the yard during the build, which is hugely inconvenient. Jeff also said he would arrange for someone to fix our door, but he never did. Instead he knocked a few hundred dollars off our price - again, with no documentation of where that number was coming from. Besides the monetary cost, we now have to take time off from work to arrange installation of a new door on our own. Overall, I learned my lesson that you get what you pay for, and in the future I'd choose to go with a more expensive but more professional contractor. We love our new deck and it is beautiful, however the process as a whole was more difficult than it should have been.
