    Concrete deck
    $60,000

    Homes American Made did a 18’ x 42’ stamped concrete deck in the fall of 2021. In the spring of 2022 the deck started to crumble. It’s now august 2024 and still fighting with them to fix the deck. They are denying any wrong doing even though many experts have claimed differently. We have gotten not assistance from HAM. We paid over $60,000 for a deck that the surface is still crumbling. It took over a year and a half even to get Mike Hanes (owner and the one who actually did the work) to come out to look at the deck to see the problem. Just the fact it took constant phone calls emails and text messages over a year and a half to get him to come out and look at it speaks volumes of their ethics. They just simply stopped answering emails, texts or phone calls and are upset because we are continuously contacting them for help. They don’t seem to understand that after 2.5 years we are upset and frustrated. The case was reported to the Better Business Bureau and you can see the details there. Please look it up if you are considering this company. Even when they sealed the deck proper procedures were not followed which the manufacturer sent a letter stating that how they applied the sealer could be the reason for the crumbing of the top layer. I will admit that our dogs did have some accidents on the deck however the surface was snow covered and it only happened in a few spots. HAM is blaming it on this occurrence. However the crumbling of the surface is all over the deck. The dogs did not urinate over every square inch of this deck and never directly on the deck it was in the snow. . HAM has even gone as far as saying that we used salt on the deck, this however never happened. They have tried to manipulate the situation to point the finger in our direction. If I could give a negative rating for their professionalism, warranty of work, and their ethics I would. We have had such a horrible experience. Please do your investigating when considering your choice of contractors. Check to see how they warranty their work, we learned the hard way. Again please check the report on the better business bureau as they could not get Mike and Robin Hanes owners of the company to make this right. Our next step it’s to get help from the Licensing and Regulatory agency. I will post an update as this battle continues.
