  Concrete Patio and Sidewalk

  I would caution using Andy and HP services. While a very likeable guy, Andy has yet to complete my patio/sidewalk project 14 months later. We hired Andy to do a stamped and colored patio/sidewalk in our backyard. Upon coloring, Andy immediately commented how he didn't like the color (was supposed to be saddle brown and came out more pink/orange). He was supposed to come back to 'fix' but has yet to do so. Also, we were also reassured by Andy, before starting, that the concrete and finish would not be slick. This has proven to be anything but true. My pregnant wife and slipped and fell and my son and slipped multiple times. What was supposed to be a play space for my children in the backyard is a liability for children. Andy no longers responds to phone calls or messages so I have had to hire a new contractor to fix and incur that additional cost.

  In conclusion, Andy got his money and didn't complete what was agreed upon. DO NOT PAY prior to satisfactory completion of your project.

  Concrete and dirt work

  Some of you may know that over the course of the last 11 months we have been building a metal shop in Topeka. During that time, we have had to navigate missed deadlines, covid supply chain issues, dishonest/incompetent subcontractors, the red tape that comes with permits and inspections, weather, and anything else that could and did go wrong. I probably would have thrown in the towel a few times if it hadn’t have been for Andy Jackson with HP Services, LLC out of Topeka. Andy was recommended to us from a family friend to pour the footing/pad for the building. While Andy did a fantastic job on the pad, it was all of the other things that he was able to assist with that compelled me to write this. As an example, when the sub that was supposed to put up the building tried to gouge me on taking it off the trailer, Andy showed up with a skid steer and did it in less than 20 minutes (with surgical precision I might add). When the city told me I needed an 18” trench for the electrical to the house, Andy and his crew were there the next day. When a giant root ball threatened to compromise the pad, Andy got the “bigger machine” to rip it out of the earth and backfill. Then the city decided I needed a 16 ft temporary pole for the electric while the building went up; Andy was on it. I couldn’t even tear down the old garage that was falling over. No problem for him and his crew. He was always on time, always came in at the price we agreed to (which was always reasonable) and never jerked me around like every other sub on the job. I really can’t recommend him enough. If you have any concrete or dirt work that you need done or know of anyone that does, please give him a call 785.249.3037. If you don’t know anyone, save his number for when you do. You won’t regret it.
