By sheacathJanuary 27, 2022Kitchen remodel, wood floor replacements, deck rebuild, 2 bathroom renovations, 2 additional bathroo
We just completed a complete home renovation with HV Renovations. The renovation included a completely redesigned kitchen, the completion of a walkout basement with a family room and bedroom, the addition of two bathrooms, the renovation of two other bathrooms, complete deck rebuild and expansion, the addition of a bi-fold glass door, new stairs and railings and replacement of wood floors. The project took about a year and we highly recommend them- in fact we have recommended them to friends who are equally happy with their work. Everyone we dealt with was courteous and respectful. The work was done beautifully and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

This contractor redid our bathroom about a year ago, and since then we have had repeated problems with leaks and frozen pipes. We ripped down our entire kitchen ceiling to expose the plumbing only to find that none of the plumbing they installed meets code. Although we paid for all the plumbing to be replaced, they left many old, broken, rotting and leaking. When contacting the company to try and address the issue, I was told it was “not their problem.” I have to remove and reinstall ALL of the plumbing that they did, to the tune of several thousand dollars which also includes ripping up the bathroom walls and floor. Do not use these people. Dave Callas is a crook who does take accountability for his work. As a side note, he also told me at one point when water was literally pouring from my ceiling that “women don’t understand plumbing.”

By Juan O.November 23, 2021Kitchen remodel$27,000Read more
We used Dave and crew for a complete kitchen remodel back in 2015. Overall good job and everyone loved the kitchen. So when we purchased another home last year we called Dave again for a complete kitchen redo at the cost of $27,000+. We started everything back in February 2021 and we are now in the middle of November and the kitchen is still not done. I say it is not done because when you pay for a service and there is still outstanding work not completed, you are not done. In this case it is all the shelves for the large pantry. The shelves that we just received in OCTOBER did not fit in the pantry. This was just one of many issues. We have countertops only because of another contractor that was here building a new deck. HV Renovations for over 6 weeks couldn't get someone to come out and measure for the countertops. My other guy got it done within 5 days. Someone come out to measure, cut and install the countertops. I fear if we would have waited for HV Reno to get this done, we would still be waiting for completion. We started in February and my 60th birthday was in July and we BARELY made it in preparation for the big bash. Communication is horrendous. My wife texted him with photos on October 29th, his response "let me look into this". I texted him this past Friday and a weekend has passed and nothing. I just texted him again and no response. No MATTER what is going on in your life you should respond with a simple text of what is or what is not going on. I highly recommend staying away from this contractor. We had so many friends, colleagues and family love the kitchen including a friend that had an old home and was looking to upgrade much of the house but I could not with good conscience recommend this company. You want specifics, here it is. The cabinets ordered were too large for the walls and left about 1/2 inch for the crown molding. WRONG. Not happy at all.

By NicoleOctober 2, 2019Bathroom/Closet remodel$20,000
We worked with Dave on the remodel of our master bathroom and closet and were very happy with the results. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time and the workers were neat and always cleaned up after themselves. The communication is great with the company and I would hire them again for another job.

Great experience with HV Reno. Dave was in constant communication throughout the project. His work is superb. He is honest, professional and reliable. I have been the victim of many dishonest incompetent contractors throughout the years. Dave is a jewel. Wish I found him sooner.

Worst contractor with Wells Fargo recommendation for 235 HUD loan. Charged for work not done n now have to pay new contractor out of pocket. He is a thief n poor work done. Ripped out prior done work n charged extra to redo. Spoke with sub contractor who gave me his cost n it was $500 under Dave's cost. Time to report this guy to HUD and have license revoked

I would not recommend Hudson Valley Renovations to anyone. I was required to pick a contractor who met HUD requirements and Hudson Valley Renovation seemed to have check out.
Once the work started, it was a nightmare - Two weeks worth of work had turned into several months. Once I gave them the first half of the money, I never saw the team again. I got excuses like, "it's too cold out today, my entire team has the flu." When they would come around to completing a project, I found it was done incorrectly, jobs either didn't meet code, or were so poorly executed the job had to be redone. Examples include: (poorly installed garage door, poorly installed water heater that leaked; railings to the pool edge that are just not functional and need to be redone; a charge for a licensed electrician who when called by my bank stated, he didn't recall doing the work) The list goes on and on. It is clear the men have no skills in their craft and Dave Callas, was never on site to supervise his team when they would actually show to do the work. On top of poor quality of work, they were also dishonest and stole from my property. Examples: ($500 pool filter, over $1000 of scrap wood, $50 worth of garage parts and hardware). To date, I still have to find a contractor to repair all of the mistakes Hudson Valley Renovations made. I do NOT recommend!! -

I hired this company to renovate my house and it started well but unfortunately they never completed the project. The contractor dragged his feet and lost interest so I now have to find another company to complete the project and fixed the problems that they caused. I wish I could attach photos so that I can show the true extent of the damage and their lack of craftsmanship and skill. There are holes in the trim throughout the house, kitchen cabinets that cannot open because they are contstantly stuck, visible nail holes in the cabinets and trim, one cabinet with the wrong size handle (and I had to wait six months for a replacement cabinet face that has still not been replaced), windows that were to be painted but never completed, a floor that was supposed to be painted with two coats which presumably was not done as it was chipping after a month, holes in sheetrock, sheetrock that was improperly sanded and just left bumpy, refuse left in my yard, a dumpster that has been blocking my driveway for over three months, doors left swinging open by the workers on at least four occasions, windows left wide open, another worker who decided to try to break into a window in order to gain access to the house instead of admitting that they lost the key, mismatched shower fixtures, windows covered in paint overspray, scratched cast iron tub, radiators that were improperly installed and now constantly bang like jackhammers....and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Suffice to say, use this company at your own peril!!!
