  The crew was some of the hardest working professional group of individuals I have seen a quite a long time.

  I had a similar experience to the January 12, 2015 review above, down to the last rotten board used! I had work done at the end of 2015. I'm just now reporting, because I wanted to be sure there'd be no repercussions to the people who bought our home. We had a roof replaced to prepare our home to sell. At the first rain a few days later, we had major leaking around the chimney, where it had not leaked prior. Mr. Hume's excuse was that the wood was bad around the chimney and had nothing to do with the new roof. He had been contracted to replace or repair all issues, including wood damage! Had he found a problem and told me about it, even if the price went up accordingly, that would have been fine. The only reason (in my opinion) we were able to get him back to fix the job was because he had been recommended by a realtor who used him frequently. He even told me directly in person that he was making much more "quick" money due to repairs needed after the area's "1000 year flood", which occurred right after we had contracted with him, and that's where his attention went. Giiven my interactions with him, I would not trust a thing he says. My only concern is that this architectural, long-life roof won't even make it 5 for the new owners!

  Worst Experience

  I found Mr. Hume to be an awful experience for me. The porch he was hired by the sellers agent to work on had multiple issues and cost the sellers a lot more than he first quoted. He didn't replace all the rotted wood at once and then build the porch back. He instead put brand new wood on top of rotted boards. After confronting him he then pulled it all off. He also reuses all wood he can and found him to scab boards in when it would have been better to just use new that would go the entire length. He is very defensive of his work and will fill you with stories of days long past. He is great if you want to do the work cheap. However if you want to feel good about the work that you are paying for and have the feeling it will last forever go to someone else. I can't wait to have another contractor replace the boards he was to cheap to do.

  I found Mr. Hume to be very personable, certainly very knowledgable of his line of work. I needed to replace my roof and found him to be fair in his price, honest & trustworthy that he would get the job done as if he were doing his own home. I would certainly call on him in the future.
