I have to share this one with you guys... elevator service company that tries to "steal" money from you... so...
I had IECONY CORP. come and check an old elevator, the technician stepped into the elevator, went down one floor and immediately said "oh this is bad, the elevator goes down faster than up so you need to replace the pressure valve" ($3,500). Then he went with the obvious fact that the elevator components are old and that a modernization is needed which will cost around $17,000! He said this is what he recommends because the elevator is dangerous and therefor he needs to shut off the elevator!
A few days after I got another company, Kencor Elevetor, to take a look at it. John, the technician, took a few rides up and down with the elevator, lowered the cab half way down the shaft and checked the shaft, rails, oil, etc. He also educated me about the mechanism, switches and what do I need to do in case the elevator get stuck. The amazing part... he said all is working very well, he was actually surprised from the good condition of the components although old. He said that no one really knows but it can continue to run like that another 15 years... and there is nothing that should be done to it!!!
Here you go... a company that tries to get advantage of you and take $20,000 for no reason and an honest company that not only doing there job but also educate their customers.
Bottom line, use Kencor Elevetor if you need and DO NOT USE IECONY CORP.!
