By Jessica S.January 27, 2024Response from Independiente Inc February 8, 2024Thank you for your review. our priority is always the client. Building through the pandemic made things very difficult to navigate based on sub contractor availability . The delays of doing a full basement dig out due to client changes and availability of contractors was unfortunate and sometimes hard to navigate through. Independiente always try to put our best foot forward and sometimes with faults of our own or changes due to client needs it pushes projects deadlines. We have taken many steps to help our company do better by adding personnel and project management software to assist on deadlines. We have also added weekly meetings and status and scheduling review with clients and architects so the delays are at a minimum. We truly hope you are enjoying your home and have taken responsibility for our mistakes to become better.

We hired Independiente Group to build our family home in 2021. Alex Braverman was, and continues to be, the upmost professional owner and GC we've worked with in our 10 yr tenure owning homes in Chicago. The quality of work, ability to stay on schedule & in budget, and integrity is what has kept us coming back to Alex time and time again. I've recommended Independiente to several families after our build was complete. In following up with them, they would all echo my same sentiment. I would not hesitate to rehire Independiente again for another build!

I have referred out Independiente a number of times and always had very good feedback from clients. I'm a residential real estate agent who also does a lot of new construction so I've referred them to both clients needing a rehab and developers needing a GC. Alex is one of the good guys. Honest and hardworking. He really does care about the quality of work, his reputation, and ensuring the client has a good experience. It's a tough business but these guys do it as well as anyone I've worked with in 20 years. It's nice to give a referral and know that someone will be taken care of!

Independiente and the owner, Alex Braverman did not complete work they began and what's worse is that he stole money. They were hired to manage a building and lied about paying bills, stole money and attempted to disappear without providing rents they collected from tenants. We are still in the process of attempting to get the money he stole from us back. Do not get involved with this company or you will regret it.

We engaged Alex, owner of Independiente Group, to serve as general contractor and manage a large-scale home renovation project. We were not satisfied with his project management skills and ongoing missed deadlines; in fact, the project was completed 11 months after what was agreed to in our contract. All of the work was subcontracted out, and there were serious issues with availability to complete the work and quality. In some cases, he changed subcontractors throughout the project. As a result, we have a recessed light in one room that did not get hooked up, an outlet in another room that doesn’t work. To fix would require taking down drywall, fixing, putting back up drywall, repainting, etc. The master shower leaked into our kitchen only a few months after we moved in. While Alex and his subs did fix this, it required tile work, plumbing, drywall and painting. The paint job overall was sub-standard. We requested missed spots be painted. We provided a list and tapped the walls to show, yet we still have trim unpainted in some places. We had a new DaVinci roof put on. His roofer took our roof off in July, and didn’t start work until January. While “wrapped,” the exposure to the Chicago winter, rain, etc. resulted in mold that had to be removed. While we did get timely responses to texts and calls, we rarely got actual answers to the questions asked. In the last three weeks of our project, Alex hired a project manager, who worked very hard to complete the project, but despite this positive late-stage development, we cannot recommend this contractor.
