Intelligent Design Air Conditioning & Plumbing

In June 2015 the owner of my house signed up for the Preventive Maintenance Club at Intelligent Design Air Conditioning and Heating. Over the next year, there were three visits from Intelligent Design personnel for my systems - each visit was a TOTAL DISASTER. On 08 Jul 2016, the owner requested that association with this maintenance program be terminated and the unused portion of the payment be returned. The cost of the maintenance program was $1600 for five years (covering two AC/heating systems), which is $320 per year or $1280 for the unused remaining four years of the plan. In addition, damaged caused to the ceiling during visit #2, discussed below, is estimated at $145 in repair costs. For these items, Intelligent Design owes $1425. In addition, during the first visit, the technician grossly overcharged an AC system with freon and charged $300 for the freon, which was subsequently squirted out onto the property. There was no refund for this $300 for wasted freon. Adding this to the previous amount bring a total of $1725. Intelligent Design has not provided the requested refund.

Summary of Visits by Intelligent Design technicians:
#1. Using a faulty pressure gauge, the technician grossly overcharged an AC unit at a cost of $300 in freon. The unit then overheated and completely stopped working. The technician returned and using a correctly working gauge determined the gross overcharging. The excess freon was squirted out and the unit cooled with massive amounts of water. The unit now makes sounds suggesting there was some damaged done to the compressor.

#2. The second visit was to inspect the furnaces in the attic. A trainee was the only person in the attic. He walked in places he should not have and damaged the ceiling. I was told that this trainee was judged to be so incompetent he was subsequently fired by Intelligent Design.

#3 The third visit was again to check the AC units. Two costly "repairs" recommended by the technician. Being extremely suspicious of the capabilities of Intelligent Design technicians at this point, a well-known, well-regarded, competent professional AC maintenance firm was called to examine the units. That technician thoroughly documented that the "repairs" proposed by Intelligent Design are BOGUS and unneeded. This technician described the recommendations of Intelligent Design as either a "scam: or the result of "gross incompetence and ignorance."

They have NOT refunded the full amount of the costs (as detailed in my case complaint) I incurred from their incompetent service.
