Just want to let everyone know that Joey (Jose) from IREI Construction just left my house after yelling at me in my driveway because I asked him to finish painting my house (a job that was supposed to be completed on Sept 1.) He admitted he saw things that needed fixing, but said I should pay extra because he gave me such a low bid in the first place. Btw,
1. He initially told me to email or text him, not to go through the business page because he was doing this on the side and wasn't telling his partner
2. When I pointed out what needed fixing initially, he said, "Wait and see what your husband thinks." (My husband is military and was away on orders when I contracted the bid.) Only when my husband called did he agree to come finish the job.
3. Fought with employees in my driveway for an hour this morning about how to most cheaply finish the work. Not the first argument. He told me he was mad his painter wasn't here on Wednesday, Aug 30. I told him his painter told me he wouldn't be here because he had court for "choking a guy out". He acted like he didn't know. His painter told me that they have many disagreements and when I told him I didn't like being told to see what my husband thought, he said, "You should hear how he talks to and treats his old lady!"
4. Did not finish the work and refuses to reimburse for work he promised to do but his employee did not finish (he was supposed to put up brackets for a yoga swing, which he repeatedly referred to as a "sex swing", even when corrected). He also told his employee it was a sex swing, which the employee said loudly at Lowes, where I was requested to meet him to buy bolts and a 2x4. He then didn't put the yoga trapeze up, even though I have paid for that work. In fact, he said he would just nail a 2x4 to the ceiling.
5. My front door was painted...the hardware was initially put in backward and wasn't fixed for two days. The chain lock is still not replaced, which we have communicated to Joey and his employee over the last week.
6. When I confronted Joey about all this and told him I was unhappy, his voice began to shake and I could see it was a problem for a woman to speak to him about a problem. I was right. He laughed at me and turned to my husband and began to speak to him. My husband said, "Hey man, she is trying to talk to you." That's when Joey said he was done and got in his truck and left. I am now forced to seek a lawyer on contingency. Please save yourself some drama and headache. These guys came highly recommended by neighborhood folks. That simply was not my experience!
