By Brandon M.September 12, 2021Sheetrock repair and full interior paint$16,000
Wow, where do I start?? JAG is the worst experience with a contractor we’ve ever had. I’ve had at least 4 people contact me recently about how they are upset and suing Jason and JAG for messing them over. This company and its leadership is simply not capable of following through and doing what they say. Then they just walk away, never to be heard of again. Big mistake using this company. Jag came as a recommendation so we trusted them with the interior painting/sheet rock repair of our home prior to moving in. The bottom line is they simply don't do or follow through with what they say. Our job was understaffed and under supervised from the beginning. We gave them plenty of time to finish the job and even as we warned them it was not progressing Jason continued to assure us it would finish on time. We finally had no choice but to move into the home and have them stop in mid progress. It was the holidays and they agreed to help get the house cleaned up and ready to move in. Again, no follow through, they pulled up the paper and left our house a mess. Doors not hung, light switch & plug covers left off etc. etc. etc. It was an absolute nightmare. Over spray left everywhere, damaged floors and furniture...the list goes on. Jags workers were actually working on their personal cars and smoking pot in our driveway!! No apology, no refund, no nothing....Completely unprofessional!!

Stay away from JAG Construction. After 9 months they were sent a cease letter from our lawyers on what we were quoted as a 4 month remodel. All of their work has to be replaced due to cosmetic issues, poor craftsmanship, or code compliance. All code issues have been determined via third-party licensed inspectors.
If you finish reading this novel and still decide to use JAG then make sure that you are accounting for all weekly charges against what they bid and the previous charges from day 1. Also, get a real contract, require insurance and bond information, and make sure all communication is either video recorded or completed via e-mail. Make sure that they get all required permits because they didn't obtain any for our remodel.
Jason, the owner, was who we initially spoke to and we liked Jason. He said he was a perfectionist and would continue work until it was done. However, Jason was not our project manager and we did not get that perfectionism out of the person who was the project manager. Jason did force the bricklayer to redo the entire addition because it did not match the original brick pattern of the house. See the bump-out addition paragraph at the end for more explanation.
They knew at 6 months that we wanted to be in before our daughter's birthday - 2 months ahead of time and already 2 months behind schedule. At 7 months we reminded them they had one month until we move in and of course, their response was yes, yes we'll be ready everything is moving along. The same goes for 2 weeks, 1 week, days, the day of, and the day after. They would send one person for a few hours 2-3 days a week after we moved in. This went on for a month and after 9 months we obtained legal representation because it would never be finished.
I want to clarify: JAG did most of their work during COVID and much of the lost time was pre-COVID. They would go days and weeks without working or would do very little for the first few months.
I will let the pictures speak for the quality of their work. These are just examples and there are many more. Most of the photos are post JAG removal; however, a couple is pre to either show a pattern of behavior or that I just haven't retaken that photo.
Bump-out addition: We had an addition to the house after work began and the plans were delivered to JAG by our designer. They bid on the bump-out addition, it was approved, and work started. In the end, JAG kept saying two sets of plans confused their guys. They were labeled, dated, and delivered both on paper and digitally. While JAG did force the bricklayers to redo the brick on the bump-out, they used the same brick regardless of the damage to the brick from the tear-down. They also quoted me 3-6 piers for the bump-out foundation and did not put any piers per Jason via e-mail and structural engineer inspection. One of the walls in the bump-out was not flat enough for The Container Store to install our closets.
Not pictured: HVAC ducting sitting on my insulation instead of hanging, HVAC ducting not connected to registers (vents) and are heating/cooling the attic, bump-out addition roof connection to existing roofline uneven, normal electrical outlets instead of required GFCI, flooring issues, the amount of paint overspray on the flooring that does not come up without hours of scrubbing with goof-off, and visible paint streaking and roller strokes in most rooms. I don't think I need to continue.

BUYER BEWARE!!! We hired JAG to remodel our rental property and home. The rental property was supposed to take 2 months and we fired them after 4. Nothing was ever done when they said it would be and no one showed up when they said they would. There was no follow up or follow through on anything. We were told over and over that they were going to wrap things up the next week. Next week would roll around and we were lucky to see someone working at all. It was a nightmare. Billing was a joke. No one knew what the hell was going on. Project manager was a jackass and couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper sack. Hiring JAG was the worst decision I have ever made. I am just thankful we started with a smaller project before they started on our home. All I can say is, run!

We filed a complaint with the BBB. We chose JAG because they said they could complete the project in 2 maybe 3 weeks, it’s over 2 months now and they are still not done. Over the last 2 to 3 weeks they’ve started coming only once a week. Learn from our mistake, make sure you specify an completion date in the contract or don’t even go with this company.

JAG Construction is a terrible company. Yes they make all kinds of promises, but never follow through with anything. They were recommended to me, so I hired them to remodel and to add an addition on a rental house. When I first moved in I started having problems with the water heater, not getting the water hot. He sent his plumber out three times and still they did not get it corrected. I asked for the name of the plumber and the plumbers license number. He would not provide the information. He would not give me a refund for the work that was not done correctly. It’s been four months since I moved in and I am having issues with electrical. JAG put in all new electrical wiring and electrical panel and I was charged for all that work. I had to call in an electrician to come and check the panel and all the plugs. JAG did not have a professional licensed electrician do the work, because the wiring in the electrical panel were loose and the wiring on the plugs and light switches had to be fixed. They said they would be done in six months with the remodel and addition and it took them a year. Jason does not take responsibility for the work his staff does. He told me he would be supervising the job, but if that would have been the case, the work would have been done correctly. That shows me that he doesn’t care that the work is done correctly. If you hire this company it will be at your own risk. From the very beginning, up front ,ask for the licensed professionals name and license number that he will be using, because he will not supply it afterwards. When they start doing the work, they work a couple of days and don’t come back for a couple of months. Then they work for another two to three days and disappear again for two to three months. When I call to see what’s going on because I don’t see anything happening that’s when they send people to come a do some work. JAG Construction has been disappointing, especially since Jason makes a great presentation and makes all kinds of commitments from the very beginning, but soon forgotten.
