  We contracted with C. Strickland of J&C Roofing for a project that needed to be fast tracked. He knew the timeline and said he had the crew to get it done. He asked for a 50% deposit for a $46,000 contract. With another 25% one week later. Foolishly I gave him $30,000 up front to avoid multiple checks. The balance, we agreed, would be paid on the project finish date, 3 weeks later. Not only was the job incomplete but I had a Lowes tab of over $23,000 that should have been less than $6,000. Our Tools went missing. Small things mostly but some items are costly to replace such as 3 Dewalt 20V batteries. Historically relevant building materials of value went missing from an 1810 log cabin we are bringing back to life. The 3 week job stretched to 12 weeks and still wasn’t finished. Cort insisted the balance owed grew by an additional $5800 even though the expense of our homelessness in that time exceeded $5800 (family of 6 people with 9 pets), storage was another $450, his contractor broke a well pump $2450, broke three windows that then cost $1500 to replace, broke the furnace glass. We finally settled the debt more than fairly to his side by paying extra labor and supplies he claimed while also denying to pay him for what was charged to Lowes. We are having to slowly finish projects ourselves. We went to install a toilet which should have been a simple connection of the plumbing Cory’s crew put in. We went to turn the water on and discovered the waterline to the toilet was never connected. It was just a piece hanging behind completely finished and painted drywall on the second floor that was to run behind finished drywall on the first floor. We will have to open the finished walls to fix this. We contacted him and he, of course, has gone silent. We paid over $40500 of the $46000 all inclusive price that landed us with a $23000 Lowes supply bill and had not just an unfinished project but one so poorly done that we have to un-do some of the work that actually got done. Avoid at all cost. Do not get pulled in by pictures on his phone of the successful jobs he has done. Don’t think for an instant that he is anything more than a fast-talking fraud who has found a way to take your money without finishing work and still leave you feeling like you were the one to misunderstand.

  It’s been a year since we contracted Cory to do work on our business and home. It’s been over six months since we paid in full for the work on our business. After a year of Cory lying to us and not showing Neither job is finished. Today he sent his wife to our business and home to spread rumors, berate and threaten us. It’s really awful how badly we have been treated by this family.

  Install metal roofing

  $2,650

  We paid J & C Roofing and Gutters in full on March 25, 2017 to install metal roofing to three sections of our roof. To date only two sections have been completed and this was only after multiple text messages to J & C and repeat excuses from J & C as to why our roof was still not completed (had to get a new phone and lost my contacts, the crew that no longer works for me told me the job was done and I never checked on it) and more times then I can count being told Cory would be there next week. The roofing materials have been laying in our yard since 2018 when they finally showed up to do the first section. DO NOT use this company!!

  Hired Cory in April 2018 to replace roof on house, Garage, shed with metal and snow stoppers . Roof was replaced in June of 2018 and we are still waiting on snow stoppers 2 and a half yrs later . Paid bill in full with knowing we just needed snowstoppers and he was coming right back in a day . Have contacted him many times to get this resolved with the same excuses over and over . Cory says coming next week , very busy , have another job in the area will be there and the excuses just keep coming . I would not recommend him or if you hire him do not pay them in full until the job is completed. I have asked for the portion of money I paid for stoppers to be reimbursed but always an excuse

  Roof and gutters

  DO NOT HIRE.. they are a joke! They came and gave an estimate in June 2019, said they would start July 2019. Months of calling we kept getting excuses and being told next week, next week, next week! One week we called and said if they didn’t start by the end of the week, we were going to collect our down payment and hire someone new. Corey and his guys came and ripped 2 roofs off, put the paper down and left. It was a whole week until someone else came to put shingles on it and rip the main roof off. This was October 2019. Well they shoved the old roof off the house onto whatever and ruined landscape, dented, scratched and scuffed our metal siding. The put holes in our roof, we have a room with water damage in the ceiling. It’s December 2019 and the roof is unfinished, gutters sit in my yard that were supposed to be hung over a week ago. The drip edge looks like crap. It took them 2 weeks to what roofing they did and again it’s still not complete and the work is CRAP!

  Siding, wrapping windows, gutters, etc

  This was the worst contractor experience of my life. Was hired in October and told the job would be done in December. Project still ongoing in June and no signs of it being completed any time soon. Corey, the owner of the business, has been avoiding my phone calls and stopping by at my house when I’m home. I would never recommend Corey to anyone. Please DO NOT hire this guy.
