I am completely disgusted with the work or lack thereof performed and not performed by Jstarr. I called our equally horrible home warranty company Fidelity because our AC had started blowing hot air. A few days later Jstarr scheduled an appointment to come look at our unit. The tech showed up, couldn't find an issue, then found an issue with the capacitor, switched it out and left. The next day the AC again stopped working. I called Jstarr. No answer. I left a message. No call back. I called warranty company and they opened original ticket and dispatched Jstarr. We waited a few more days. Got a text saying tech would be out two days from then. I explained it was imperative as I have health issues, which I explained the original time I called to them and warranty company. My health declines in the heat. The unit was smoking, doesn't blow cool air and needs fixing. They sent a tech out who told us that it is the fan motor seizing up, he disconnected the fuse, closed up the unit and said they would order a new fan, then left. I waited a few days, called Jstarr for an eta on the part with no answer. Waited a day more, called again and was told the parts were ordered and they scheduled an appt for following Friday. Friday came and went with a no show. I called, they texted the parts coming from back east and because of Hurricane Ida were going to be delayed. Scheduled an appt for the next Friday. Same thing happened. I texted, they respond with the parts are suppose to be in on Monday. MONDAY TUES WED no parts. Then Friday I get a text that they found the parts in Texas. They should be here faster. That was a week ago and still NO PARTS ! NO CALLS! NO TEXT! I am consulting with an attorney now. Oh did I mention the AC unit is over 20 years old and EVERY AC company I've spoke to said the unit should really be replaced as it has exceeded its age. Just uncomprehensible that a company would be that unprofessional.

By Ann B.July 9, 2021HVAC repair. Our home warranty company uses them. We didn’t hire them.$0
This is the HVAC contractor that our home warranty company (American Home Shield) chooses to use in our area (Central Valley, Northern California). The WORST EVER! They never call, never return calls, don’t work well with AHS (although AHS is nothing to write home about either). Our AC has been out for EIGHT weeks now, and there’s no resolution in sight! The temperature here has been 100+ for weeks! Don’t ever use this company!

Absolutely horrible! Will recommend people stay away from this company! Had an appointment (made through home warranty) they no call no showed, I finally got a hold of them and rescheduled, they did it to me again!
By this time the problem seemed to have stopped so I called home warranty to cancel, but lo and behold 2 days later my AC is still leaking, so now me, my wife, and 4 kids have no AC in 100 degree weather because this company ghosted us!
Terrible service, and when I get a hold of home warranty again I will beg them to drop J star mechanical as a vendor.
If you dislike your work so much, don't put yourself out there that you can do it!

By Katie W.April 21, 2021Look at air conditioning problem$0
I made an appt with Maria on April 20, 2021 after my home warranty company dispatched them for my air conditioning issue, she was able to get
Me an appt for the following day which was very surprising I figured it would be a week or two but I was thankful, I informed her that I work full time & would have to leave work to meet the technician she told me that my appt was at 12pm. Fast forward to Today April 21, 2021 I left work and showed up at my house 5 minutes before 12, I waited until about 12:30 and than called the number Maria called me to schedule the appt, with no answer after 2-3 calls I gave it a minute and sent a text asking for an estimated time a technician would show up. I didn’t realize that her phone was an iPhone and she had received or read the text message shortly after (It shows when someone has seen your message). With still no response or phone call at 1pm I left my house. I have security cameras and am able to see when people show up to the premises it is now 3pm and still no phone call, text message response or technician has showed up at my house. I’m upset that it was such a waste of my time & I had to take time off of work to wait for a no show and no response. Very unprofessional. I would have rather waited a few weeks than get stood up and loose hours at work. I would have at least liked a phone call or text message letting me know that no one was going to show up for the service call.

What a joke this company is. They were contracted out and after 3 days of no contact I called but received no answer. I called multiple times throughout the day and finally called the home warranty to cancel, so they did… only to rehire the same contractor lol. We’ve now been without AC for over a week and still no call from this company. Avoid at all costs.
