    FULL Home Remodel
    $90,000

I am a first time home owner and a first time home remodeler. I saved and planned for about 10 years before I finally decided to remodel. I have an elderly parent living with me, so, in addition to building equity and performing some long awaited and much needed repairs, I also wanted to provide a space for her to "age in place".

The home was build in 1954 and, at the time of remodel, consisted of two bedrooms a kitchen and small bathroom on the first floor. The second floor was never finished, so it was essentially open attic with a staircase.

Given the above, I looked long and hard for a contractor who I believed would provide the quality and craftsmanship I was looking for at a fair price, and, more than anything, was someone I could essentially trust, because this was one heck of a leap of faith.

After interviewing four contractors, I settled on J.Tretter & Sons. Construction commenced the end of July 2018 and was completed the end of November 2018. Because of the extent of the work, we relocated from July through the end of September.

Work consisted of: New side entrance door with over hang, new outdoor lighting front and back, old front door and entry hall enclosed to expanded into downstairs bathroom, which was completely remodeled to include laundry and a fully accessible tile shower, sink and toilet. New wood laminate flooring throughout downstairs living room, dining room, as well as new water proof laminate in bathroom and kitchen. Complete kitchen gut and remodel, New drywall in living room. New plumbing, fixtures and electric throughout most of first floor. Relocation of baseboard heating. New staircase and closet. Enclosed old back door and back hallway and relocated to base of stairs. Entire new second floor, expanded existing dormer to nearly full length of roof, fully finished two full sized bedrooms and added and full bath, (And all the windows, electric, roofing, plumbing, carpeting, closets drywall, insulation), Lastly, beautiful Crown molding throughout home!

We basically have a new BEAUTIFUL home and more than we could have imagined!

So, I must say, at the risk of sounding cliche', if you want top quality, honest, trustworthy, hard working craftsman, with attention to detail (Joe Jr.'s tile work and precision with crown molding are top notch). If you want a team you can trust, who are open to communication, who are patient and who will work with you the way Joe Tretter Sr. does, and who will not consider a job completed until you are 100% satisfied. (And if you too, can be a little flexible and patient yourself at times, because I found that's just a part of any remodeling project), then J.Tretter and Sons Contracting is a great choice and one I would make again in a heartbeat.

Joe Tretter is reliable and if possible will show how a difficult situation can be worked out. I had some damage related to hurricane Sandy. I called Joe because I liked the work he had done for me over the summer at the house. Within hours he was able to do the repair making the house secure again. "Way to go Joe."
