Jack McCrady Reviews
1 out of 5 stars, based on 1 review

  • February 5, 2016

In 2011 a Hail storm passed through Bristol.
In Nov. Stephen Dillard referred Jack McCrady to me to be a roofing contractor and to have him replace my hail damaged roof. I took him at his word that I would get a 1st quality job. Worst choice I could have possibly made.
In 1995 I replaced an old metal roof with 3 tab shingles on my house myself. It took 25 squares and from 1995 to Nov. 2011, I never had a drip from the work I did myself. After having Jack McCrady replace the 3 tab shingles which I had put on with architectural shingles, I have had leaks all across the back roof side of my house. I had to call Jack back within a week or so of completion as soon as the 1st rain came.
He returned 3 different times to repair the leaks which he and his workers caused by not laying felt down under the new shingles. Water came through the ceilings in my Downstairs bathroom & Back Porch Entry Foyer area. After he returned to repair the roof on the last trip I climbed up on the roof to check his work and found that many of the shingles that he should have replaced, he just used clear caulk on the nail holes. When I discussed the job with him before he started I specifically told him to lay down new felt paper to cover the entire roof before laying on the shingles. I found by slightly raising the corners on just a few of the new shingles that he actually nailed many of the shingles on bare plywood with no felt paper covering.
Now here it is January 2016 and after the recent rain and snow a part of the back porch ceiling actually fell to the floor from where he did not properly install flashing around the wall of an upstairs bedroom. The leaks have now increased to the point to where I am now going to have to replace at least 500 Sq. Ft. (5 squares) across the back of my house and replace 168 square feet of back porch ceiling as well as 50 sq. ft. of bathroom ceiling.
I would not recommend this contractor to anyone. As matter of fact for this type of poor workmanship, it is my opinion that he should not be allowed to have a building contractor license at all.
I wonder if there is anyone else out there who has had this kind of terrible experience with Jack McCrady Roofing Contractor. If anyone wants proof of what I have in this review, I have photos and would be glad to share with them.
IF you need roof repairs I advise you Do Not have Jack McCrady do it.
