I called Jacobs Plumbing and spoke to the owner Ray Jacobs, He said that they would be able to put me in a Bradford white 50 Gallon water heater for $850 and moving it about 5 feet would not be a problem. I also informed him I had an old concrete utility tub and would be replacing that with a new utility sink and would need a total of 10 feet of pipe ran to allow for that and so forth. (I gutted the entire room to the studs before they arrived on the job) He said no worries he would just charge the hourly rate of $83/hr. I agreed to have him complete the job he sent Jimmy and Josh out to the job site and they completed the job and were there for 5.5 hours total. They went out to the truck and brought me a bill for $2,012!! I paid it but followed up the following business day to talk to Ray the owner about being overcharged because he said, "We can do the water heater for $850" 850+material and hourly wage for the utility tub/washer set up (which was $83/hr) should have been ~$1500. They charged me $227 for materials which is appropriate, and $456.50 for the labor to do the piping on the sink but where they took advantage of me was they said $850 for the water heater (which was a Bradford white that cost $400, online.) and then on top of the $850 they charged me for the water heater they then charged me for 5.5 hours of labor so it cost me $1,310 for a $400 water heater and installation!!!! I called Ray and he got angry and nasty on the phone, when I began discussing the figures and how much the water heater actually cost. DO NOT HIRE JACOBS PLUMBING AND EXCAVATING!
