They are cheaters, never hire them. If we can give negative stars we would give.
We had a leak in our bath room. They came and gave an estimate of 10,000 for fixing that problem, As part of that they were replacing the tub and tiles. It was not a bathroom remodel, vanity and everything stayed the same. One of our friends recommended this contractor because they had done small few days job. They talked sweet and we trusted them blindly and didn’t take anything in writing, we provided the tiles too. Every day they worked only for 4 or 4 ½ hours and kept dragging. To put the tiles they had also removed the toilet. After putting all the tiles, they give us the bill for 17,000 and mentions that they needed that by the end of the day. We had paid some and We didn’t give the check for the rest of the money that day. So next day they come to finish some touch up work. Then they say that 17,000 was till the day they gave the bill,, we need to pay for one more day and whatever else remaining including putting the toilet, fix the cub board door (which they removed while removing the tiles). We were outraged. So we asked them to leave.
In the end when we asked our friends, they said when it came to the money in the end they got cheated too.
Since we trusted, and didn’t take anything in writing, we ended up giving the check. We have this moral that we want to own our mistake of trusting someone blindly. Before giving the check we tried to ask why they are charging 70% more, they were contradicting every sentence they were telling, clearly it was hard for them to keep up with their lies. So didn’t want to argue with liars and cheaters, didn’t want to drag down to their low level. So our mental peace, our moral costed us fortune.
We thought we had found a good handy man for the life, wanted to hire them for other projects like finishing the basement. Few of our friends were thinking of remodeling and we had mentioned about this contractor. We ended up telling this story to our friends and not recommending them for anyone. We did lose a lot of money, but they also lost a lot of future opportunities from us.
Any way there are other contractors out there. SO never hire these cheaters and liars. Irrespective of whom you hire take the estimate in writing.
