We gave James $7000 down payment for roof & gutter work based on referral by his Amish uncle. 2 months later, James did no work, bought no materials, and even asked for more money. Our soffits and porch roof are rotting, and we are now fighting mold. He refuses to return our money & says he no longer has it. He is doing everything he can to hold our home hostage.

8/ 2013: As of August we have filed a civil lawsuit against James Byler Window and Door for Theft. He accepted a down payment for work to be done in May and after he reschedule work on our home twice, he stopped taking my calls and we haven't seen him since. He texted me on 7/1 that he would refund our money. then he said he would need a few weeks to pay us back. It's been 6 weeks and nothing. He didn't respond to the certified court date sent by the magistrate. We assume he skipped town.

James Byler of James Byler Windows and Doors is Grade A Con Artist.
He sold me windows "that his father manufactures." He measured my windows, I paid a down payment of $975, and we both signed a contract. Two months later he said, "they are almost done." Three months later I asked for my money back. He ignored multiple texts and phone calls asking for my money back. Then he texted and said he'd send it back. I never heard from him again. The address on the contract is no good. I have found no evidence he ever lived there.
He does not deserve even the 1 star a reviewer is forced to give on this rating system.
He now lives in South Dakota and is still scamming people as of January 2019.
