James Smith from James pool repair came out to give me an estimate on replacing my pool pump. He charged $125 to come out and give me an estimate. I was told originally he would charge $275 but he would only charge me $225 and He said he would apply the $125 if I hired him so then I would only have to pay another $100. So when I let him know I received the new pump and asked when he could come out and I also verified the price he went back on what he said quoted me $275 and that he was keeping the $125 for the drive out to my house for the estimate. I understand charging a fee and every company I’ve ever worked with if you hire them they apply that to the total bill so I wasn’t concerned at all until he went back on what he told me. Through all that he’s not even experienced enough to change out the pump because the wires were run under ground To the outlet attached to the house, so he was just going to run an extension cord for a temporary fix and I would have to call a more experienced pool service to get it properly done. The sad thing is that he blatantly lied to me just to get the job even though he wasn’t qualified for it and he was completely unaware that I was recording our conversation on my cell phone. Which is perfectly legal in Virginia because it’s a one party consent state. I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.
