I would advise any potential homebuilder to stay far away from this contractor.
I gave Jocques his first big project and he promised that my house would be the only project he would be working on. As it turns out he worked on six other projects that I know of, two framing jobs and four houses that he was general contractor on. In fact he completed one of those houses before he finished mine.
My house ended up being 8 months late and way over budget. To add insult to injury he has been ignoring all emails to come back and warranty the house. I have hardwood floors buckling, a driveway that was built out of spec. that I can't even drive my car down and pool coping that has yet to be finished properly. These are just a few of the issues that I am now forced to deal with myself. If you are not physically on site to keep an eye on progress he is very adept at making excuses.
I would just advise everyone to check references. Talk to the owners and architects that have worked with him. There are many good contractors on Maui, JBR Construction is NOT one of them.
