This contractor we signed a contract with is a complete miserable disappointment. From the beginning they have been a fail. The only reason we are still involved with them is that we signed the contract and had to pay 30% of the project price so we do not want to lose our money.

Our renovation project entailed the demolition of the master bathroom, master dressing room closets, and the rebuilding of same. Scope of the project included new plumbing fixtures, a new glass-enclosed tile shower, new tile floors, and the rearrangement of walls to create a very large and commodious dressing room. The lighting was executed exactly to plan, and became a notable element of the renovation.
The workmen were courteous, expert in the execution of their work, and cleaned the site very well every day. The oversight of the project was professional and there was never a contentious encounter.

To date, the project is not complete even though we agreed to the scope of the project and the bid price was accepted on March 7, 2017 and a check for half the job was cashed by them on March 10th, 2017. Originally Mr. Dean, indicated the whole project would take two to three weeks after commencement.
Mr. Dean implied they had in-house staff that could draft and submit the Collier County Permit Application in a very timely manner since I needed to start the work on April 3rd, 2017 since it was a rental unit and I needed a quick turnaround. He was told numerous times this was my expectations and that this was a rental unit. His misstatement was a deciding factor in the Contractor Selection. Before agreeing to using him, I confirmed that his Contractor license was current.
Mr. Dean told me on April 3rd upon my arrival in Naples to observe the work, that he just submitted the Application (Permit Application was actually submitted April 4th - lied to me a 2nd time). His company had a very hard time getting the Permit Application approved because of their lack of knowledge of the Permitting process. The Permit was finally approved May 5th. Mr. Dean started the demo of both showers prior to getting the Permit approval in attempt by my part to reduce the downtime of the project.
Mr. Dean communication skills are very poor. He does not return phone calls, texts, emails most times when I attempted to get status updates and to find out why he was not working on the project. Crews would not show up when they were suppose to or show up when they weren't suppose to .
My property is a rental unit and his very poor performance has prevented me from renting out the unit in May and June. This unit receives $3,300 per month during the winter months. His performance was so poor that I had to fly down June 4th to try to put on some added pressure to complete the job. During this timeframe they did work most of the week but still the project is not completed.
His organizational and project management skills are very poor. I was attempting to use my left over floor tile for retiling both bathrooms. I was pretty sure I had enough if none was wasted. I asked him to verify I had enough tile and that I purchased everything required for the fixture/tub door installations at the start of the job. Apparently, he did not check it because he called me and told me when they were about ready to start the 2nd bathroom that I did not have enough tile. I had to scramble to select and get new tile delivered. I was able to do this in a matter of 5 days during Memorial Day weekend. The new tile for the 2nd bathroom was delivered to his shop Tuesday May 30th. He also found out that the sliding tub door bracket delivered was incorrect. I arranged for a new part to be delivered on June 9th. He was scheduled to return June 12th and still no word. He still has my tile and bracket in his possession.
