  Remodel

  Avoid using this contractor. makes commitments and fails to keep them. Extremely slow to respond if he responds at all. After four weeks of failing to return phone calls/texts concerning estimates for three jobs he was supposed to be working on, we moved on to a contractor that has responded quickly to all of our needs. Since moving on to another contractor, have heard several similar stories about a lack of responsiveness to his customers. Save yourself the frustrations and hire a different contractor.

  We are building our retirement home in River Bend, Bluffton, SC. Our plans are now completed and construction has started! We couldn’t be more pleased!

  Mr. Duncan, the owner of JD Construction has been with us every step of the way! He personally oversees all of his sub-contractors and is hands on in the process! We live over 800 miles away and we don’t have any worries! If he has a concern he Immediately ca lls to let us know.

  I currently work for a homebuilder In Maryland and Mr. Dunncan has gone over and above in all of his commitments to us! ! He is truly a man of his word and has a special gift for detail.

  J.D. rebuilt our garage on Hilton Head Island which was destroyed by the Hurricane in 2016. I've hired a lot of contractors over the years (in Illinois) and I'd have to rate him as one of the top two. He was highly skilled, very dependable and a pleasure to work with. We had daily conversations about the project and he kept me up to date constantly. He is a very proud craftsman and his attention to detail was impressive. His final bill was 100% in line with his proposal and he left the worksite immaculate. J.D. is a class act and I would rate him as my number 1 choice for any project.   New home construction

  My wife and I are retiring to Bluffton, SC. I am a Licensed General Contractor in North Carolina.
  While I have built several homes for my wife and me, we have never built a home that is over 300 miles away.
  
  When considering contractors, I wanted a small company with a” hands on” owner. Being very particular, I wanted a quality conscious contractor that took pride in his work and did what he said he would do.
  
  I talked to several local contractors that had good reviews on line. Angie’s List had two top rated contractors in the Bluffton area. When I called the larger company I was told that the owner would get back to me. It took him three days to do so.
  
  When I called James he immediately answered the phone.
  
  On the phone he was very personable and I told him I wanted to come to Bluffton to meet him and see some of his work.
  
  Knowing quality construction when I see it, I knew James was the builder we wanted for our “long distance” project.
  
  We are now about 50% completed and my wife and I couldn’t be more pleased. James and I talk several times a week. He encourages us to talk frequently and never seems to busy for me. The home is progressing very smoothly. James knows all of the issues and requirements to build in a coastal county in South Carolina. It was a long process before we could start but once he had a green light the work has moved quickly.
  
  James is not only an outstanding builder but is a man of his word that has always done what he said he would do. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of a builder for our new custom retirement home and we give James and JD Duncan Construction our highest recommendation. If you need any construction work in the Bluffton and surrounding area, you will be very happy with James.
