April, 2013 we hired Jeff for a large renovation job. He was very unprofessional and extremely difficult to work with. The quality of his work is poor & we had to insist that he re-do several things he said were good enough. He did the inside work first & then it rained a lot & the job could not be finished for weeks. What should been a 3 week job took him over two months to complete. In the middle of the job he demanded $400 more to fix a bay window. Fixing this was clearly stated in the contract & we refused.
He promised to leave unused paint with us for touch ups & then he refused to do so.

Terrible experience. I hired Jeff to close in my loft (along with a closet) to create a bedroom for my 4 year old daughter. The first sign that he may be difficult to work with was when he dropped a 12 x 12 'glob' of drywall mud in my sod. I called him to let him know thinking it may have been an accident. His exact words "run some water on it" then hung up. Keep in mind Jeff lives in my neighborhood about .5 miles away. The next sign: Jeff scheduled 3 days to complete the project. 4 weeks later he still wasn't completed. After 2 1/2 weeks we moved my daughter's bed into the room as most of the drywall had been completed. I told him we were moving her into the room and he was okay with it. We just asked him to please cover the bed so dust wouldn't cover her bedding. He said okay. He never covered the bedding and continued to just sand away. He also never covered the flooring even before we moved my daughter into the room. He dropped paint and drywall mud in my carpet. I asked him several times to please cover the flooring. He said not to worry because he would have the carpets professionally cleaned when he was done. He never had the floors professionally cleaned so I had to do so at my expense. The drywall he installed had multiple defects that he agreed were "bad". In fact Jeff's exact words were " it looks like crap" but refused to repair the defects. There are actual 'waves' in the drywall. The trim had nail heads sticking out and some of the nails shot through the trim leaving the sharp end exposed. I pointed this out to Jeff several times but he never repaired them. Our last meeting we reviewed the room and I said Jeff you've admitted your work looks terrible and you've been back multiple times but you keep ignoring the defects we discussed. I even put blue painters tape on the defective areas but Jeff just kept removing the tape but not fixing the defects. I told Jeff I couldn't miss anymore work (I had missed approximately 5-6 days just to meet with him and review the issues). I agreed however to miss one more day to sit with him as he worked and together we could make sure he properly covered my belongings and fixed the plethora of defects you've agreed are in fact terrible (or looks like crap in his words). He began to get agitated and I asked him if he was okay. I told him if anyone should be agitated it should be me. He began to yell and use profanity all while I remained very calm. My 4 year old little girl and my 3 year old son were down stairs. I asked him to please stop using profanity be he continued. So I asked him to leave my house. I did email him the next day to try and resolve the issue. The room still needed a lot of work and I had already given him $500. He never responded to my emails. I had to cover all the expenses to tear down his work and professionally repair it. Jeff also tool paint in my garage I was saving to retouch the walls as the house ages. He took the paint to use on the job he was doing but he charged me for the paint. He never asked me if you could use the paint. I didn't realize this until after he had walked off the job. Jeff Farrar is unethical and in my opinion has some serious psychological issues. He certainly isn't a professional. I would not recommend him for anything. If Jeff decides to refute any of my claims - I have emails and pictures and would be happy to share any and all of the information. Check his Facebook page. He doesn't post the STARS (ranking). FB allows you to disable the STARS. I would guess (opinion) the only reason a business owner would do that is if the business has negative rankings.
