    Terrible contractor-Liar, thief

    I feel compelled to write this is as I would like to warn others about the terrible working experience you will have if you hire JF Davis Construction and owner Joe Davis. I strongly caution anyone from hiring JF Davis Construction and specifically working with Joe Davis the company owner or any of his associates.

    My situation with Mr. Davis began in early April 2015 when Joe Davis, the company owner, provided me with a contract for a rebuild following a water leak and required approximately 25% of the total contract value up front.

    Over the next couple of months I found there to be very little progress in the work required but an abundance of excuses and false promises from Mr. Davis.
    Four months after beginning the project and receiving approximately $12000, JF Davis completed less than $6000 worth of actual work. Not surprisingly, Mr. Davis could not explain what happened to the remaining $6000 that was left in his trust to utilize to further this project.

    Additionally, I found out that two sub contractors that had provided construction services had not been paid. In fact, one of the sub contractors was issued a business check and a few days later found out that Mr. Davis had insufficient funds to cover the check that bounced. After considerable stress, frustration and threats of legal action, Mr. Davis was forced to come through with cashier’s checks to make good on the amounts owed to the sub contractors. Ironically, sub contractors do not require any money up front but rather, are open to completing the work and then receiving payment.

    In the contract termination process, Mr. Davis indicated that he wanted to work out the termination and settlement details without litigation. As I write this, all I have had from Mr. Davis are continued excuses and false promises with limited follow through in refunding the funds owed..

    As you look at the list of issued permits for JF Davis, I would encourage you to make contact with other clients and you will find that I am not alone in having this issue with Mr. Davis. He is currently dealing with multiple situations where false promises were made, excuses flowed like water and funds disappeared into thin air.

    If you are in the market for a contractor who represents the epitome of all things wrong with contractors, then by all means, please hire this man. If on the other hand you would like to have a contractor that you can trust knowing they have your best interest at heart, stay as far away from Joe Davis as you can.
