Finally after a two month wait, Jim Dandy's owner, Mark Lees, showed up on a saturday afternoon with a mason to look over my project. I'm told then that they would need one ton of mason sand first thing monday morning, keep in mind they're telling me this on a saturday afternoon when suppliers are closed. With a lot of luck my local excavating man was able to get the sand early monday morning. Lees and his mason crew showed up monday and didn't even bring a shovel that was needed to shovel sand into their mortar box. I supplied Jim Dandy with reclaimed cement block and during the project was told by the mason crew that I'd need four additional block which I went to local supplier and bought. At the end of the project I had eleven block left over, so much for needing four more. The project consisted of building a foundation wall to join up with another wall that was 5 and 1/2 block high. The mason crew accomplished this by laying the new wall 5 block high with extreme width mortar joints when a true professional would have cut block to obtain the 5 and 1/2 block height. The crew was aware that I had a saw with cement cutting blade but never asked to use it, since they were using other tools of mine including a cement mixer, it wasn't an issue of using homeowner's tool but rather a lack of skill that kept them from doing what should have been done. Finally, at the end of the job I paid the full $2,000 that was estimated even thou I supplied all of the block and paid for the sand needed. My advice, use Jim Dandy Repair and Remodeling only if you're a fool and wish to part with money.

Back in July , 2015, owner, Mark Lees, gave me a price on some work which I accepted and was told work would be done in August. Here we are into September and still no word from Lees as to when the job would be started.

I will just say this comment. While Mark Lees “seems like a “ good ole West Virginia boy” .... sad to say his presentation is NOT backed up with a REAL, true, responsible work ethic. Read on. Mr. Lees came to look at a job of removing old paneling in my elderly parents’ finished basement family room and then repairing & building a new family room wall complete with new paneling. To ALL of us, Mr. Lees came off as very personable. He did come and remove the old paneling ( and got paid for that part of the job). Repairs had to be made to the wall, by an outside company, and then Mr. Lees was to come back and look at constructing a newly paneled wall. It took several weeks and many, many phone calls & texts to finally get him to come back out to see what he needed to complete the project that he said “he would be happy to do”. When he left that day, after estimating what building materials he would need, and giving my elderly father a price, he actually shook my Dad’s hand and PROMISED that he would be there the “NEXT WEEK”. ALL of us WAITED that next week for Mr. Lees to call to say WHEN HE WAS COMING. The next week came and went, as did the week after, and the week after. Imagine my elderly parents disappointment and frustration ( and mine - their daughter) !!! When I tried to call Mr. Lees, his phone said “The mailbox is full & no calls are being accepted at this time”. I sent texts ...those were never acknowledged or answered either. It has been over a MONTH with NO COMMUNICATION from Mr. Lees at all. He LEFT MY PARENTS HIGH & DRY in the middle of a project. What happened ? Did he FALL OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH or pass away ??? I don’t think so. According to these previous reviews ....Mr. Lees NOT SHOWING UP FOR A JOB AS PROMISED is a pattern. And I am sure that many others who have not written a review have been duped too. I would just say .... “West Virginia deserves a better reputation that this man portrays as one of its sons”!!! Do NOT set yourself up for DISAPPOINTMENT !!! DO NOT GET HIM AS A CONTRACTOR FOR ANY JOB !
