I would definitely recommend him as he and his work crew(s) were extremely professional. His services do not come cheap however. But you get what you pay for! I point out that I initially contacted him after seeing his construction signs all over Piedmont and Oakland which seemed like a good omen.

My experience with Jim Gardner was great. I had met with Montclair constructions and the pricing was about a couple or 3,000 difference. They were much more rigorous on their contract agreements unlike Jim.
Jim assessed and mentioned he had a crew who has a break between jobs and said he could get it done within 30 days. Please understand he came highly recommended by a close friend of mine who lives above Lakeshore in a hilly neighborhood so I listened to her.
I was able to live in my house during the entire construction. They basically bolstered the entire footprint of the house with a blocks before they started ripping out the old foundation that had been compromised by years of water runoff rom my neighbors house.
They removed around 3-4 feet of wood tied to the existing foundation due to wood rot and rebuilt that around the house that would tie into the re-bar reinforced new foundation. They created larger cement blocks that support piling for the entire footprint of the house.
They removed the outdated fusebox which was no longer utilized under the crawl space. They did a check of the exterior wall and recommended I do the entire exterior with a newer exterior for an additional $10,000 but I had to pass on that.
They repaired the exterior walls that had extensive water damage. I will take care of this during the next phase of house improvement.
He had his crew there every day during the week, arriving around 7 am and out by 4-5 pm. They cleaned up their trash and removed it from the house. The crew did clean up every day. I left payments at the house that were picked up according to a payment plan by Jim to pay his crew.
I feel so grateful, as a homeowner, to get past this stage of home maintenance. I still have extra house projects and thinking out a plan as I plan to live in this house during my retirement, so it has to be comfortable for me.
